If this is the white porcelain finish, once the scratches get deeper than the superficial layer of the finish, the more you polish, the thinner the finish becomes. This allows future scratches to become "permanent". Since it is from HomeDepot, there is a chance they may discount a replacement or replace it for free -even though it is over a year old & the care instructions may warn about abrasive cleaners.

A Master Collection designer Thermocast cast acrylic double bowl kitchen sink with a rich high gloss finish that is easy to clean with non-abrasive cleaners.

  1. 1

Put on rubber gloves. Spray the sink with a nonabrasive commercial kitchen cleaner, covering all surfaces of the sink with the spray.

  2. 2

Dampen a sponge in warm water. Wipe the sponge over the sink, scrubbing at any visible dirt.

  3. 3

Rinse the sink with warm water and then dry it with a clean towel.

  4. 4

Fill the sink with warm water and add 1 tsp. of chlorine bleach per gallon of water, once a month. This will sanitize the sink, and is recommended by Thermocast. Let the bleach-water mixture remain in the sink for 15 minutes, then drain the sink. Rinse.

  5. 5

Apply liquid automotive polish to a clean, soft cloth. Wipe the cloth over the sink to remove any scratches that may have occurred. Buff the sink using a circular motion. Rinse.

Abrasive cleaners may scratch Thermocast sink surfaces--using abrasive cleaners may also void the warranty.

How do i clean it it has white water stains and we have soft water and i can not find my manual. about 3 years old double kitchen sink black from home depot

Question...is this a black enamel coating on the sink? If so, be careful not to use abrasive cleaners on the sink or it will scratch the finish. Hard scrubbing will do the same if the cloth/sponge that you are using is somewhat abrasive. I have used "Lime away" or "CLR" and both have worked fine for me. You can get these solutions at Wal-Mart, Home Depot or Lowes. Note that this will continue to stain unless you resolve your water issue. This may be done by getting a "Home water filtration" device installed. This can be pricey though. Good luck.

Small scratches and one burn spot

I'm sorry to hear someone marred this beautiful sink on you. This is essentially an acrylic sink, the same material used to make acrylic soaker tubs. Using any type of abrasive cleaner on this sink is going to dull the finish. This includes baking soda. The liquid auto polish referred to is essentially car wax not an abrasive polish. The car wax contains carnuba wax that will return a lustre to the finish but unlikely to remove the damage you've described. The manufacturer recommends using only non abrasive cleansers. There won't be anything you can do about the burn mark, this is going to be permanent. It could be from heat or possibly something caustic. If the gray scratches in the other sink look like they are on the surface of the acrylic you may be able to get them off. If it looks like the gray is underneath the acrylic finish then you will need to contact Thermocast for an acrylic repair kit for the color of your sink. Hopefully they are able to provide such an accessory. Use a plastic pan scraper and see if you can scratch the gray off the surface. The plastic is softer than the acrylic and will not scratch it. I have scratches on the bottom of the sink

If they are very superficial, you can use a mild abrasive like Bon Ami or Bar Keeper's Friend. Follow instructions carefully, especially with the latter.

Stains in my thermocast sink

Rinse after every use. Sanatize with Bleach once a month. Use a soft cloth or sponge and liquid soap to remove residue. Scratches can be buffed and polished with a liquid based auto polish to maintain High Gloss finish. Do not use abrasive cleaners which will dull the finish. If you have used the sink in a non-normal usage and stained it, it can not be repaired under most circumstances. If you have not voided the warranty, you may be eligible for a replacement from the company.

Using solvents in a Thermocast sink is a huge no no. The company will have to buy you a new one. There isn't anything you can do.

Is an acrylic sink durable and stainproof?

Acrylic sinks can stain too. I would go with a cast iron sink if you don't want to worry about stains. Acrylic sinks tend to scratch if your not careful.
