1 Answer

Took my laptop in to have it cleaned and checked out, now my NetGear wireless card won't connect to the internet and my laptop doesn't seem to recognize the card when we unplug and plug it back in. Nothing comes up?

If you need the driver files for this adapter, you may find it here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/
As you have not mentioned the model number, i couldn't post a specific answer. This will help you only if the adapter is getting detected as soon as you plug-in with no installations. It would say "Found New Hardware" If this doesn't show on your laptop, check with another laptop for fault in the adapter. If the adapter seems to work, then check in your device manager and make sure that the port for plugging this adapter is properly installed. If you have Win Vista or Win 7, you may try updating drivers for the port and it should mostly work else, if you find that the port is not properly installed, also, you are not able to install it as i instructed, you may have to take it back to the computer vendor and check with them. It may be an installation issue.

For further clarifications, please revert!
Thanks for asking,

My HP G60 laptop with Vista won't connect to Netgear router

Usually there are 2 types of wireless connections, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Your laptop may not be able to connect to one of these connections, so it may be incompatible with your router. You can try buying a USB networking card (no more than $20). It will plug into one of your USB ports and should allow you to connect to your router. Hope this helps!

CAN'T SEEM TO CONECT TO MY WPN824 NETGEAR ROUTER WIRELESSLY WORKS FINE IF I CONNECT STREIGHT INTO THE BACK WITHETHERNET BUT TOTALY GOES IF I DISCONECT IT ?????

For the computer/laptop to connect to the wireless router, the wireless card in the computer/laptop needs to be configured with the netgear's wireless settings eg. SSID and encryption etc.
It is not wise to leave your wireless router unsecured, anyone can access your network and Internet connection and use up your allocated download limit. Once you exceed your download limit you could be slug with addition charges - this depends upon your contract with your ISP.

Netgear WGR814v2 does not see my ASUS 1005HA-P netbook, but the netbook sees the the Netgear wireless network but cannot connect .

To connect into your own Netgear router, you need to configure the wireless card with your router's wireless configuration settings, eg.the SSID and encryption settings. Check your router manual on how to configure the router or go to the Netgear WEB site to download this info.
To configure the Netgear router for wireless you need to connect a LAN cable from the laptop to the router and run your browser with the configuration IP address. for Netgear type the URL address ;-
http://192.168.0.1
the login = admin PW = password
Then configure the SSID and encryption, record this info so you can configure the wireless card with the same settings.

You can also connect to the Internet by using a LAN cable and plug it into the Netgear router without a wireless connection.

Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U And PS3

I understand that you want to connect the PS3 using the Wireless card and NETGEAR card. Please note that the setup you have will not work for internet access. You can not configure the Air card to work with NETGEAR router. you need to have wih a broadband connection available for this router to connect to internet.

Once you have the router configured with Internet access then you may either connect the PS3 wired or wireless to the router, like you connect a desktop or laptop to the router.

Connection problems

If Internet sharing is set up correctly one pc will be the one that connects directly to internet, the other will connect through a gateway or other device connected to your network. Check they have'nt both got the same IP address. Is this related to last problem, did you get the wireless card working wirelessly online?
