Have you got..

  1. A USB cable from the computer connected to the USB input on the monitor? It needs that cable to supply USB outputs from the monitor. The monitor acts as a USB hub.
  2. The speakers on the monitor also require a cable from the soundcard on your computer to the sound input of the monitor.

In order for the usb ports to work you must have 1 usb from the computer connected to the monitor. The monitor may have a specific input port from the pc in order to activate the other ports on the monitor

My usb port on monitor isn't working. how can i fix this?

Hi,
The USB ports on the monitor will work only if you connect the monitor via a USB cable to your PC/Laptop's USB port. Sounds awkward. Doesn't it? There must be a USB cable with flat socket on one end and trapezium shape jack on one end. It should be in the box which the monitor came in. The USB ports in the monitor are just another extended USB ports for your PC/Laptop. If you can't find the cable mentioned above, it is the same cable you connect to a printer, scanner,........ In some cases you might need to install a driver which should also come along with monitor. Mostly you don't need to install.
Good luck.

My dell monitor usb ports don't work anyone how to fix it?

Please check if the monitor's usb port is connected to the tower, the monitor only acts like a USB hub / junction. If it is connected then disconnect it from the existing USB port and connect it to a different USB port. Please refer to the monitor manual link given below

Why don't my USB ports on my monitor work

1) good USB cable from Monitor USB input port to PC USB port?

2) Check pin 1 of the USB port, you should have 5vdc.

3) Your monitor's USB ports are basically the powered USB hub, but it must be connected to the PC USB port.

I have USb's attached to my monitor but they have never worked, how do I get them to work on the side of this monitor

You usually need to connect a USB lead from the computer to the monitor first.

One of the monitor USB ports will be different to the others and it is here where the PC would connect.

Some monitors also have connections for USB speakers. you may have to check out which ones you have by going to the manufacturers web site for your monitor.

Help!

Most of the monitors from yesterday backwards, that has speakers attached, or built in, has always required another cord to plug them into your PC's light green sound port. Some of the more current combo monitors drive it through the USB connectors so the 'extra' cord is not necessary, also brings USB ports closer to you for your mouse and keyboard. If you have tested your PC's out port ( light green ) on another set of "Powered Speakers" and they work, and your sure that your monitor does not have the need for a secondary power source for the speakers attached to it, look for a pin port connector on the combo monitor, either in front, sometimes behind where all the other cables plug into, or, just plug your head phones into your PC and make sure your "Speaker" icon on the far right, isn't "MUTED" ??
