I'm trying to find out how to remove agitator so I can replace "dogs". The info I could find online says to remove top cover and then remove nut in the center of agitator, but that is not a nut, only the top of a shaft.

    Help!

the 2nd agitator wont come off and the rinse cycle will not rinse out the soap and dirt. Even if you run the "second rinse cycle" several times, you cannot get the soap and dirt out of the clothes and water. When the machine was new, I called Sears about the problem. The appliance repairman said it was ok and did not seem to know anything about washers.

Model 11020922990 Kenmore Three speed is tearing shirts. Sear is no help at all. All they want to do is send a $75 service call or sell a warrenty. I just need an answer to the question, Why are my shirts being ripped up. The owners manual has some suggestion none of which fit this situation.
If I have to rely on Sear a rock at stream side sould like a better solution!

It's more than likely the clutch. Since you already replaced the motor coupling, it can only be the trans or the clutch and my guess is the clutch since the clutch and motor coupling are the weak links in the system.

You need to replace the Kenmore Washer Lid Switch. I had the same problem so being lazy I would just push down on the washer's lid and it would push the lid switch further down. making the water drain. after a while I just replaced the lid switch.

The agitator is slipping on our Kenmore 80 series toploader. I'm not sure how to remove it.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Look at the section on the Sears site for Agitator, basket and tub.

Assuming that only the top section of the agitator is "slipping, the problem points to the Agitator "Dogs"

See the following for how to replace them.

If it's not the "Dogs" see the following that has a section on how to remove the agitators and check the splines.

Two things to check.

It sounds as if the tub isn't getting full power from the transmission for spinning and/or the pump/hoses are damaged or blocked.

1. Remove the cabinet.

See the following.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=134&osCsid=7777818c689b6ece38ca9884721fffc7

and check the hoses / pump.

2. If they are OK, the problem may point to the Motor Coupler. See the following for how to check it.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=135

3. If the pump and Motor Coupler are OK, the problem could point to the clutch.

See the following for how to pull the pump, motor and transmission.

You don't have to remove the tub!!

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=137

If the clutch bands are worn, you don't have to replace the entire clutch. Sears / Whirlpool have a band replacement kit, a lot less expensive and easier to install than a new clutch.

Series 80 Agitator top dosent work

If the bottom agitates and not the top, the problem is likely the 4 "agitator dogs" designed to allow the top agitator to turn only one way.

I assume that your model number starts with a 110 instead of 100.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.26842692

Look at the section on the Sears site for Agitator, basket and tub.

See the part "Dog, agitator "

Remove the fabric softener unit, lift the top agitator cap (use a screwdriver) and you should see a plastic part in the center of the top agitator with a 1/2" square drive.

Remove the drive and lift off the top agitator. Turning it over you should see the 4 "dogs", replace these and the top agitator should turn in one direction only.

Replace the 1/2" drive, the cap and fabric softener unit and the top agitator should work.

Following is an illustrated description of the above.

The upper portion of the agitator (Kenmore Series 80 top load)stopped spinning as if the thread has stripped. What parts need to be replaced?

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Basic top load, direct drive Whirlpool / Kenmore washers with two piece agitators use "agitator dogs" to allow the top section of the agitator to turn in one direction only.

These are plastic pieces and over time can wear.

See the following for how to replace them.

Kenmore 80 series, model 110-2781690, won't spin or agitate. loud clicking from lower portion of machine. fills & drains ok. transmission failure?

hi,
Unfortunately, it sounds like a transmission/gearcase problem, mainly because you stated the motor would run, but would not agitate or spin.

With the motor removed from the gearcase, try to turn the coupler on the gearcase side one way for many turns, and see if your agitator moves back and forth, then turn the coupler on the gearcase the other way many turns to see if the tub starts to move

thank you,
vijay
