SOURCE: whirlpool GU3200 dishwasher
The illusive technical repair sheet that isn't there...
Turn the thing a little further and pull UP. It'll come out. You've got to put some muscle into it!
The manual for the GU1000/1200/1500 is here (it's almost the same and as close as I can get you to a 3200)

There is a plastic clip that holds the spray arm to the inlet line. This clip is in the center and has to be sqeazed together to release the arm.
Both upper and lower spray arms become clogged by different objects like paper, plastic, stems from fruits, etc... These are particles that cannot br dissolved be the detergents.

Sounds like you may have put it together wrong. I would just take the arm back off and make sure that it all fits together right. A little tip for you too. Dishwashers will clog up all the time with water deposits and food gunk. There are all those expensive cleaners out on the market but the best and cheapest way to clean them is with white vinegar. Simply pour it into the dishwasher when it is empty and run it on the pots and pans setting on hot. Always make sure to pre heat your water too by running the sink till it starts steaming. This will make it easier for your dishwasher to heat the water. If you don't, then when you turn on the dishwasher it starts to fill with cold water and has to heat it on its own. Run the vinegar though through it at least once a month or so and it will extend the life of the dishwasher. Hope this helps. Just try taking that arm back off though and putting it back together making sure everything is fitting properly. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me. Good luck.

There is a product made to filter the water going into your dishwasher only to soften the water and remove the calcium before it enters your dishwasher. your dishes will be spotless and it will not get clogged again. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com. it goes right under the sink and is very affordable. you will love this product and it will solve your problems.
