Can i convert a 32 bit to a 64 bit

You can use the Upgrade option during Windows 7 installation, which preserves your files, settings, and programs, only if you're currently running a 32-bit version of Windows Vista and you want to upgrade to the 32-bit version of Windows 7. Similarly, if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista, you can only perform an upgrade to a 64-bit version of Windows 7. For more information, go to Upgrading to Windows 7: frequently asked questions on the Windows website.
If you want to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or vice versa, you'll need to back up your files and choose the Custom option during Windows 7 installation. Then, you'll need to restore your files and reinstall your programs. For more information about performing a custom installation, see Installing and reinstalling Windows 7‍.
gl_ico.png Notes
  • To install a 64-bit version of Windows 7 on a computer running a 32-bit version of Windows, you'll need to start, or boot, your computer using a 64-bit Windows 7 installation disc or files.
  • If you start your computer using a 64-bit Windows 7 installation disc or files, but your computer isn't capable of running a 64-bit version of Windows, you'll see a Windows Boot Manager error. You'll need to use a 32-bit Windows 7 installation disc or files instead.
  • Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer files from a 64-bit version of Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. If you're running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista but you plan to install a 32-bit version of Windows 7, you can move your files to an external location manually or use Backup and Restore in Windows Vista. For more information, go to Back up your files and

32 bit IE won't connect to internet in Vista 64 bit.

32 bit programs, last I checked, won't work in a 64 bit operating system, just as 64 bit won't work in 32 bit operating systems.

If 32 bit programs will work in a 64 bit OS, they probably won't work properly.

Differences

Hi delta force,

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system. For gaming, you need to view the system requirements on each game to determine if the software is compatible with 64bit. Not all games will work on a 64 bit processor. Some of the newer more graphic games are compatible with 64bit, but I'd check before you purchase. Also, when you purchase a 64 bit processor machine, you'll find that not all your old software will run under it. You may have some problems and will need to upgrade those versions to thier 64 bit version software, (if available). It's great when it works!

Good Luck and don't forget to leave a rating,

Thanks Mark

IE 32-bit browser need to run on my 64-bit browser

Hi buddy323,

You will find the 32 bit browser on your Vista installation disk. Or your restore CD from Dell.

If you can't find it there, you can download it HERE. Or may want to go for the IE version 8.

Good Luck and don't forget to leave a rating.

Thanks Mark

Vista RAM usage ?

The minimum recommended ram for Vista is 1 GB, generally accepted practical minimum is 2 GB. A 1 GB system will be kinda laggy. Maximum RAM for 32 bit Vista is 4 GB.

Vista Home Premium is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Media Center Edition (Has Media Center, cann't be put on a DOMAIN type network)

Vista Business is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Professional (Can Join a Domain, Doesn't have Media Center)

Vista Ultimate has all available freatures of Vista, you can do any windows function with Ultimate

How do i run a 32 bit browser on a 64 bit system? windows vista home premium.

There is no special procedure for running the browser (or any other 32 bit program). If you're having a problem with a particular browser, which one and what is the trouble?

Do you have the 64 bit Vista, or just a 64 bit processor? The former is relatively uncommon, the latter is the norm these days.

Vista...is it a 32 bit version or 64 bit.

Hi.
I dont' work for bestbuy, so i can't tell what the hardware inside this pc is, only looking inside the pc or the hardware manuals a technician can work.
However, to know what kind of windows is installed, you don't need to be an expert, Windows XP 32 bits only shows the logo( WINDOWS XP ), unlike Windows XP 64 bits, this appears as:
( WINDOWS XP X64 ) when windows is starting.
Also you can go to START - CONTROL PANEL - double click on SYSTEM, there you will see some of your system specs.

About the Graphics card, the most qualified to tell you that is Nvidea Manufacturer itself:
See for yourself.

Hope this help you.
Good luck.
