Question about Hotpoint Refrigerators
First the air circulation over the condenser. Normally the air is drawn in on the front right side and discharge on the front left side at the toe plate. Make sure the cover is on in the back or the air will not circulate properly.
Second the temperature settings. Both sides are cooled by the cooling coil in the freezer compartment. Normal is a good starting point but you should use some type of temperature gage for the final adjustments. If you set the freezer temperature to cold it will run longer to bring down the refrigerator temperature to the balance and shut off point.
Next is the bad point. If it is a used second hand refrigerator and it has years of run time on it there is the possibility that the compressor is beyond its life span. Make sure the condenser is completely cleaned in the back of the unit behind a removable cover. this is the same cover I referred to in the first part.
