This company obviously does not care about Mac Customers...the software I got does not work and it is a complicated process just to install the software only to get an error message. What were they thinking?
No one bothered to check out the software before they put it on the CD.

You have an apple iBook?
Don't install any software for the memory card reader.
Just plug it into the USB port on the iBook and open a Finder window (from the desktop hit Apple/N) or click on the desktop, then go to the menu at the top, and in the FILE menu select New Finder Window.

The card reader will show up as long as it has a functioning memory card in it. There is no need to install any software.

With Apple computers this is generally true with any peripheral, including printers and other devices. The Apple operating system has much better support for peripheral devices than what you might be used to with PCs, and generally additional software or drivers is not needed, and allowing the computer to do it automatically is much more trouble free, and obviously easier.

1. Follow this link for the Dynex drivers: http://www.dynexproducts.com/products/computers/DX-CRMN1.html Although this page is for the Dynex 6-in-1 USB 2.0 Mini Memory Card Reader, it should work for your 5-in-1 Reader. Post back here if it doesn't.

2. Click on Windows or Mac under Drivers, Firmware and Software.

3. Download file.

4. Open driver installation package and install driver.

5. Restart computer if necessary.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I just bought DYNEX card reader and cannot figure out how to take off write protection lock because I need to put new pictures on it and it won't let me because of write protection lock

The write protection lock is a very small slide switch on the left side looking at the top of the memory card. make sure that the slide is all the way forward for write operations and all the way back for write protect.

Trying to install Dynes 5 in 1 memory card reader/writer on my Mac running 10.6.4 Can I put the small disk in my laptop drive - it is a slip in slot

If you're worried, put the small CD-ROM into some other computer, and copy the entire contents to a full-size CD-recordable disk (or to a USB memory-stick).

Then, carry the CD-R (or the memory-stick) to your computer.

My computer does not recognize my 7K05 when I plug it in.

Does it read other usb device? If not, it could be that your USB drive is disabled from your bios/cmos settings.

Try to enable it upon rebooting your computer, quickly press Del (delete) from your keyboard to go to the CMOS setup. From the Advanced Setup, enable the USB drive.

Dynex Mini Card Reader

I had this problem & after getting hung up on by dynex support and best buy I figured it out myself. 1-go to dynex site and download driver for mac http://www.dynexproducts.com/p-580-dynex-5-in-1-usb-20-mini-memory-card-reader.aspx this file will be named something like DX-CRMN1 Setup.fit will be encrypted and will open up a document with only symbols if you don't have a decompressor or expander. 2-You will need to download the stuffit expander at http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/20954 3- once you download that open the expander which will open a window with a blue circle and four arrows around it. DRAG THE DYNEX SETUP FILE INTO THE CENTER OF THE BLUE CIRCLE 4-After a few seconds a file will appear on desktop labeled something like Alcor generic (if thats not the name for you just look on your desktop for a folder that wasn't previously there) 5- at this point put your memory card into the card reader and the lights should start flashing on the front and the card will be recognized. At this point iPhoto opened and I was able to import the photos.
HOPE THESE STEPS WORK FOR YOU & LET'S NOT BUY ANYMORE CRAPPY DYNEX PRODUCTS.

The Cd is too small for my MAC

IT WILL STILL WORK!

Yeah, if you just plug it into the computer and insert a card, the drive pops up on your screen. The CD is not required (thank God) and it WILL GET STUCK, so don't try to insert it. (I did...took me 15 minutes and some very small tweezers to get the stupid thing out!)
