Re: Acer monitor too bright,,
Give it to me? Just kidding. The Monitor controls are the only thing to adjust the monitor's brightness, zoom, etc. I took a look on the net to see if there was such a program to control it from your PC but there is not. so if you can't get used to that monitors brightness, I suggest you return it to the store before you can't. You probably can't cause you wrote this back in may. So you might want to sell that on Ebay or craigslist or something if you can't return it.

umm...usually if it is a desk top there will be buttons either on the side, front or back or even the top, one looks like a sun and another looks like a square thats normally half white and half black. they are your brightness and contrast...push either end of the buttons to adjust more bright or less bright, more contrast or less contrast.
do you have any buttons on your monitor besides the power button? if you do click on the one who has a sun icon inside it. that's for brightness. if you don't have that button go to control panel and click on the file which name is exaxt as your graphic card's. from there you can also control brightness, contrast etc.
I just bought an Acer 19 inch this morning and I am assuming you have the same controls on the bottom of monitor. On mine I push the menu button twice....the left arrow once to select the brightness slider.....push the menu button again to turn slider red and active...then use your left or right arrows to adjust brightness...afterwards you use the menu to get you back to the exit button and that's it....I hope Don
To even things out you need to use the controls on the monitor to lower the brightrnes. to acceptable levels. When playing a DVD there are seperate controls in the software and your graphics driver to adjust the Video Overly settings. Look for settings called gamma and brightness in the video overlay settings in the windows display properties panel. This should help even things out some. Deal is to crank down the brightness on the monitor and crank it up in the video settings in windows. It will make the DVD's brighter and rest of the time the regular screen darker.
