Question about Kenmore 15864/15862 Top Load Washer

Open Question

My Kenmore 800 series washer is leaking water from underneath, but all the hoses are intact and properly connected. I was gifted this machine from a friend who had it stored fro 3 years. Is there a drain plug in the bottom that I should look for?

SOURCE: Kenmore front load washer

Purchased a Kenmore HE 2T a few months ago. We discovered water on the washer during the rinse cycle of 1 large load of wash. A Sears repairman checked over the washer and told us we were using too much HE detergent and this caused water to leak out from the door. He said its a common problem with front loaders and recommended using 1/2 to 1/4 (if a water softener is installed) the amount recommended by the manufacturer.

We use the washer everyday and so far no more water leaks.

SOURCE: 70 Series Kenmore washer pouring water underneath washer.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Check the areas for the motor and pump and the Agitator Basket and Tub .

If you've checked the hoses to and from the pump the problem points to either the pump itself or to the Centerpost gasket.

Neither of these is too difficult to replace, the Gasket requires removing most parts of the washer although the pump is an easy replacement.

Kenmore 70 series washer leaking

Check the hoses underneath the tube. There is two hoses one from the tub to the pump then the pump to the drain. Probably loose hose clamp. Or could be the pump leaking. If it is the pump itself you need to replace it. Or also coould be the botttom seal in the tub where it connects to the transmisssion.
When does it leak? It also could be the inlet hose if it just leaks when the water is going in.

My Kenmore Series does not stop filling up and over flows. How do I fix it?

Easy fix no parts needed. Flip up the controls and hunt down the water level switch, looks like this:
See the small tube? If it vibrated off there just re-secure it and pump out the water.
If it looks intact and is connect to the water level switch then yank it off there and blow out the sediment in the base of the tub. Re connect the hose and pump out the water. These water level switches rarely go bad. But sediment gets into a lot of these washers especially if you live near the beach. Video: how to get into these machines

My Kenmore 800 series washer leaks from under the front left during the spin cycle. I looked behind it and checked the connections but all seems fine in that area. What could be causing this?

Same problem! Flooded the laundry room and about 1/4 of the basement. Happens randomly, not every load. Checked all hoses, they are snug and don't appear to be leaking at all. During the wash cycle it you can hear it spraying water inside the washer and the floor starts flooding. I bought the washer Sept. 19, 2009 and have had this problem for about 5 weeks now. Sears refuses to do anything about it, because it's no longer under warranty.

Water leaking

hi friend,
Step 1 Look at the floor drain to make sure it isn't clogged. Sometimes it's not even the washing machine, but the drain causing those puddles of water on the floor. Unclogging the drain can be an easy and quick fix.
  • Step 2 Inspect the hoses for leaks or wear and tear in certain spots. Filling the washing machine may help identify any leaks or faulty hoses. If hoses are worn, replace them with non-burst stainless steel mesh hoses.
  • Step 3 Check the fittings of the existing hoses to the faucet fixtures and on the back of the washing machine. Sometimes a loose connection is the cause for the leaks. Tighten couplings and hose clamps if necessary to fix the leaks.
  • Step 4 Replace internal washers inside of the hoses if not replacing the entire hose. Something as small as a rubber gasket can create a lot of water damage. Use a screwdriver to pop the worn washer out and replace it. Repeat replacing washers on the other end of the hose.
  • Step 5 Examine internal components by opening the cabinet and starting the fill cycle to see if anything is leaking internally. Calcium deposits and rust may be evident around areas that have leaks.
  • Step 6 Use hose clamp pliers to remove any corroded spring clamps and replace them with new ones. Make sure the hose is still intact underneath the old clamp. If not, remove the internal hose and take it to an appliance repair center to find the correct replacement part
  • hope this helps u

Kenmore 22422 seeping water from under machine

look underneath the washer.there sould be a hose there.sometimes an unbalanced load can cause the hose to rub up against sharp metal when the machine vibrates.mine had a zip tie that held the hose to close to the edge of the machine which had some sharp metal and it put a small hole in the hose.hope this helps.
