Is it new?Usually an SD card comes in the locked position.Remove the card from the camera. There should be a metal tab which slides back and forth.Move it to the other end from the current position. That should be unlock mode.Turn on the camera to check.I don't remember if my LCD said it there or when I took a picture but you will kow immediately either way.Good luck! How to Unlock SD Card

Many times people do not realize that a SD card can be write protected or locked. They will try to download pictures or make changes to the pictures and the SD card will not allow them to do it. The little lock feature on the side of the card will write protect the SD card so that changes cannot be made. You will need to unlock the SD card to be able to make the changes that you want to make or download anything from it.

To allow the SD card to be accessed is a simple as sliding a small tab on the side of the card to the unlocked position. Usually this means sliding the tab towards the back of the card and away from the front of the card. The card will have to be removed from the camera or PC to be able to do this.

Here is a picture of an SD Card and you can see the tab on the side of the card. It clearly shows you what is the locked and unlocked positions on the card.

This feature can be very useful to make sure that you do not inadvertently erase data or pictures from the card. If you have children viewing pictures on the SD Card make sure to lock it before allowing them to play around to make sure that they do not erase your pictures.

As you can see this is a very good feature to have and it will be very useful to you, but you do need to remember to unlock it before trying to make changes to the card.
SD memory card is locked. How do I unlock it?

SD and Mini SD memory cards has a small slide switch on the edge of the card, which write protects data on the memory card or add photos to the SD card. Slide the switch from the LOCK position to the UNLOCK position, which is furthest away from the contacts.

When we try to take a picture on our Vivatar Camera it says, card locked. Please help us with this problem.

Most likely your sd card is locked. Try removing the sd card and moving the small white tab on the side of the sd card from locked to unlocked and give it a try.

How do i unlock my memory card its not allowing me to take photos.

I am assuming that your camera uses and SD card to store the pictures.
If you remove the memory card from the camera, you should see a little slider on the side of the card that says "lock," it is easy to accidentally lock SD cards.
I have attached a picture to show you what a locked SD card looks like.\:codyrt.jpg
Here is another image showing the card in the unlocked position: codyrt_0.jpg

How do i unlock my sd card

The only way to lock / unlock an SD card is with the little switch on the side, it's on the actual physical SD card itself. Take out the card and on it you will see a little switch you can actually "flick" one way or the other, one is locked, and the other is unlocked. It should have a little picture of a lock or the words LOCK on it to indicate which was is which.

Thanks

Can't take Picture

Some SD Cards have a physical lock on the side of the Card. Try taking the card out of the camera and look for a small white piece of plastic that you can slide on the side of the card. You may need to slide it to the unlocked position for the camera to be able to write to the card.

Samsung digimax4010 memorycard locked cant take pictures

To fix this, remove the SD card from your camera. Look on the side and you will find a little switch. One end of the switch says locked the other end says unlocked. Move the switch from locked to unlocked. Replace it in your camera and turn it back on.

Card Locked

Hi,
If it is an SD memory card, there is a switch actually on the edge of the card. Try moving it to the other position and reinstall. Most people don't realise it's even there untill they have problems.

If this works , please rate accordingly so others may follow.

Thanks.

If it doesn't, there will be access to view the locked photo's on the camera. Selecting protect/ lock again should remove this.
