It could still be the diaphragm. If it gets worn and stretched it may work without a load on it but with a load it will just open then stay there. The best thing to do is take this to a pool store. They will do the work necessary for just the price of parts. I hope this helps. Good luck.

How do I fix suction on kirby sentria upright vaccum

  1. Put the hose and see if suction is good. If it is - you may have had nozzle installed wrong or brush roll may be worn out (bristles must be sticking out of the nozzle by about 1/8 of an inch).
  2. If there is no suction with the hose either - check if bag is not overfilled to the point where dirt is blocking the fill tube hole.
  3. If two above are fine - something must be blocking the air passage from the fan to the bag. Check for clogs in the fill tube (tube inside the cloth bag) and mini emptor (bag bottom plastic part) and also see if there is something blocking the exhaust on the vacuum. You may not even see it so use a piece of wire. Technician

My barracuda g3 gets stuck on the drain after working fine since I moved into the house 4 months ago. I have the main drain turned off. I recently got a new diaphram, although it worked for a couple of...

I would first try turning the drain valve off. If it quits getting stuck then maybe that is the solution. If so then maybe you can open the drain valve only slightly and it will still not get stuck. If it gets stuck even with the drain valve off then you guess is as good as mine.

I hope this helps.

Sep 14, 2011 | Zodiac BARRACUDA G3 IN-GRND CLEANER

Water circulation is OK. barracuda g3 does not pulsate, hoses are clear

If the cleaner is not pulsating, then either you don't have enough suction or the diaphragm is bad or clogged. Very common to have a **** or tear next to or just below the plastic retaining ring that holds the diaphragm on the inner cassette tube. Also check and make sure there are no holes or breaks on the hoses. Your cleaner should have come with a suction gauge that you put on the end of the hose in place of the cleaner. It's a clear tube with a spring and plastic piece inside that indicates high, low, or normal. Use this to check your suction. If you don't have one see if you can get one at the local pool supply house, they may even have one you can borrow. Hope this helps. If you need further assistance post a reply in the comments, and don't hesitate to leave a good thumb rating if you found this helpful. Thanks, and good Luck!

Cleaner is almost new, right pressure, not clogged, has always moved really slowly. I used to have a G2 and it hustled around my pool, I have installed a whole new filter system and this new cleaner is...

The G4 is actually a pretty decent cleaner. For all practical purposes they work about the same as the G3, G2, and the old Alpha 2 models. By the way the G2 is a very new model, so I assume you mean you had an Alpha 2. Either way I can suggest a few thing to check, but if the cleaner is new and your equipment is all functioning fine take it back to store and have them check it. I have about 10 of these cleaners in my pools, and they function fine for at least the first year. After that depending on several things can be another story. You said you have the right pressure, but make sure you are checking the actual suction as well. If the filter or a return line is clogged your pressure can go high, but have poor suction. Also if your suction is poor due to a clogged line, basket, or impeller, but your filter is dirty, the pressure may actually show fine on the gauge, but in reality you can have poor flow. I will assume you know your equipment well enough to make sure you don't have a valve turned so that too much of your suction is going to the skimmer or drain instead of the cleaner. (or if your using a diverter in the skimmer, that it is set to max). If not let me know and we can discuss that. If you have good suction the diaphragm will pulse rapidly indicating you have enough suction. You can even unscrew the rear cassette from the cleaner and just leave it hanging in the water. If this doesn't pulsate then either the diaphragm is bad or you do not have enough suction - it's as simple as that. So take the rear cassette apart pull out the inner tube with the diaphragm, and check it closely. Pull the diaphragm off the tube, remove the small retaining ring and inspect inside and out all the way around where the ring goes. very often there is a tear here that is hard to see when installed. There are a few other things you can check beyond this. All have to do with play or slop between other parts, but if your cleaner if fairly new this should not be an issue. If the cleaner is still not performing well, I recommend either taking it into a store (most stores will inspect for free because they wanna sell you parts), or call a pool guy to come check it out, that way he can check out all your equipment, and everything else. Don't get too discouraged these cleaner really are pretty good cleaners, especially for the first year or two. Good Luck!

Check your pool cleaners hose to make sure that it is not becoming tangled. Storing the hose in a coiled position will cause this. If it is not moving and it is not the hose, you could have a leak in a connection somewhere. If the cleaner is getting adequate suction, it should be moving. Try adjust the hose weights to make sure the cleaner is at a 45 degree angle to the pools floor.

Sprayer is not working, but leaks water

I think you have two problems. The leaking is old seals on either the containers, or on the other end (the machine). Try replacing them. There are various part websites for these.
The problem with the spraying could be the belt that turns the pump. Check it. If it's there its probably not it. The next thing could be the little plastic tubes that go to all the componets inside the machine tend to accumulate buildup. Make sure they are all flowing free. Next try the heating element (its inside the handle area) take it apart and clean it. If all those things are checked and it still doesnt work, it might be what was wrong with mine. The all on one container that holds fresh water and dirty water has a leak. I found mine would spray correctly if i had the lid off the container, and as soon as i would put the lid back on it would stop spraying. I found out that The suction going through the container to **** the dirty water in was also putting a suction on the clean water bladder which caused the water to stop flowing out of the clean water bladder. I ended up getting an all new container with bladder because i could not get anything to seal right due to its age and warpage of the plastic. So to determine if yours is the same issue. Just take the lid off the container and then try to spray water. It may take 10 seconds to get all the tubes primed again because the suction will actually **** all the water back up to the container. If you dont want to replace the container, just spray a few passes with the lid off, then put the lid back on to **** the water back up. Hope this helps. I might not write clearly for everyone to understand, but i hope it helps someone.

My baracuda G3 stop working is not pulsating and therefore not moving. I checked the suction and the hoses even the diaphram everything looks ok.

If you have suction at the bottom of the cleaner, there has to be a problem with the diaphragm. I would remove it and recheck.

Barracuda pool cleaner has suction but not pulsing why?

either the diaphragm is bad or has some debris caught in it. Remove the nut above the handle and push the white tube downward to see the diaphragm. It should be uniform in shape and should not have a very large opening inside. If it's distorted, it's best to replace it.

I have a G3 and it will work for a few minutes and then stop. There is plenty of suction, so i am not sure what to do. It came with the house i bought a few years ago. I have the hoses and the G3 without...

This sounds like a bad diapraham, These can be gotten at your local pool store and if you bring the head with they can install it at the same time. They can ck the unit for you at this time but if you have good suction and flow this is probally your problem.

G3 is not moving, but has suction? Please advise.

I had the same problem. come to find out there was somehting stuck in the diaphram. (a piece of mulch). Once I removed it, everything worked fine. Take your Barracuda apart and check the diaphram for blockage.
