It's in the tank, but you can get to it from the back seat. Brief instructions below--let me know if you want more details.
Oops sorry, that was for the pump. let me look up the relay
Relay should be in engine compartment relay/fuse box by battery but I cannot find the diagram
where could i find diagram?
When someone asks you where is the fuel pump Relay??? Im reading this, and I'm a Mechanic and I dont understand why the answer to this question was what you wrote. I would still be confused, Someone has asked you a simple question as to where is the F/P Relay, answer it. The F/P Relay IS NOT in the fuel tank. That was his question, "Where is the F/P Relay"?? No, the FP Relay is not in the Fuel Tank. Check your manuals, and IF your like me, most car manuals are gone or lost, so next step is get a Mitchel Repair guide OR a Haynes Repair book, some books show things the other book dont show, weird huh.....Anyway, Read the book, its cheap, and next, PLEASE understand there and could be MANY reasons why car wont start, but you asked where is the fuel pump relay, so we will stick with that for now. Under the hood
you will find the fuse box, most likely, its like most and are not labeld to well, however, there are 2 fuses in that box that effect the fuel pump, HOWEVER, you will find the relay and module under the radio, left and right of floor hump. It;s best to take console out. Its not bad. Usually the module will go before the relay
BACK UP, Really will go b4 the module on most, but not always. I've done alot of NO START issues, and if you cant hear the pump. theres a reason for that, KEEP in mind the pump will only run for bout 8-10 seconds, computer knows car aint running and will lose power. Its time for alot of testing, always go cheap or inexpensive rather, than buy alot of expensive stuff b4 you know whats wrong. Using a test light is very helpful, if thats all u got. Hey , i been there, No power source no tools, no help either. Take your time, Me, personally, I always check for the spark, and timing belt and balance belt and make sure I ahve atleast pulse to crankshaft and camshaft sonsor, then
Excuse my spelling above, typing fast, JEFF at the top was wrong and didnt answer the question posted. Sorry Jeff. If you answered the question...good for you. and my apoloogies. Going on to answer your question, Make sure u have power to pump, spark and good sensors. Relays and modules are good, No sound at FP after bypassing, I would say its a fuel pump. Again, after under the hood fuse box, check under the radio, remove center console, alot are 5 speeds, no prob. I have fought this issue for 15 yrs, u think its 1 thing and its the other. Check under hood, dont forget, left of column, where those fuses are at, check them as well several MFI 1971 last 4 digits of relays, are muti-function, fuel pump, ect... under radio is next best place IF you havent found it under hood. Test light, a small power source, bypass the pump, and it should turn on for a short time ONLY. Its a pain to dx the prob, or which relay is bad. n
Hi Chuck Aaron. You have 15 years of knowledge on the eclipse so I think you may be the right guy to answer my question. This is off topic of the fuel filter, yet I saw an opportunity here so I'm taking it. I too have a 2001 eclipse GS and I recently found the front 02 sensor harness having shredded wiring, so I cut the bad wiring off ( about 4 inches) which included the connector. Well I failed to take a pic of the wiring harness before I cut it and redid the wiring in the connector, (I know, what was I thinking) and now I'm trying to re-wire the connector w/ new wiring to the wiring on the harness. Having a new 02 sensor with 2 black, 1 white, 1 blue wire, and 1 red, 1 brown, 1 black 1 white on the harness side I'm not sure what color wire goes together I know the signal wire, the earth wire on 02 side, and I know the power wire(red) on the harness side and that is all I know, please if you can, inform me of where these are supposed to connect. It's driving me bonkers.

SOURCE: WHERE IS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATED ON THE 2000
the relay is located on the left upper engine compartment. it is the first relay to the right of the fenderwell.
SOURCE: problems in the fuel line
If it's like my 97, they are located on the firewall just to the right of the master cylinder. There are two of them and they are about 1" square with harnesses plugged into them. I had and intermintent problem with my 97 not starting. I took the rear seat out and turned the ignition on without trying to start it. You should hear the fuel pump kick on for a few seconds as it pressurizes the system. No whirrr, no power to the pump (or the pump is bad). There are two relays and I replaced the cheaper of the two to fix my problem.
Testimonial: "yea mine is the same no "whirr" i replaced the fuel pump still nothing so im gonna check the fuel filter and change the relays tomarrow, Thanks"
