Question about Sanyo PLV Z1 Multimedia Projector

2 Answers

Hi, I have the Sanyo PLV-Z1. Just this evening I wanted to watch a movie but the thing doesn't work right any more. It projects the picture but it's very very very dark. I have to totally obscure the room in order to make out a very faded image. It has been used in eco modus for no more then 350 hours and 0 hours in normal modus. The lamp replacement light is NOT on. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
no, this is definitely not it. It's not a cable thing and not a picture menu issue. the lamp has gone completely by now (doesn't project anything anymore)... So the new question is: How come the lamp replacement light is not on and how is it possible that it's broken after only 350 hours? I just want to be sure before spending 200 bucks on new lamp.
    sincerely
    david

The first thing to be checked in such a situation is the connecting cable. Often times these cables get discrepancies midway and these in turn cause poor picture quality. Try using a different cable to confirm if it is indeed the cable.
Secondly check the settings for brightness and the contrast settings if they have been tampered with or reset they could also cause such picture quality.
Finally regardless of the lamp replacement light coming on if the lamp is weak it could bring about poor picture quality. Check the above options by the order in which i have arranged them.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Usually lamp details given on projectors about hours of use are seldom less accurate. Why the lamp replacement light has not come on i cant tell until i examine it. But if the lamp has been replaced at anytime after the initial purchase of the projector then there is a probability that it was replaced with a sub-standard lamp. Try to ensure that when you are getting the lamp replaced again it should be done by a trusted expert.

Hi,

This is symptoms of your projector lamp going to die.
It will not die soon.It will still work for more 50-100 hours and
then only it will die.

Mostly all lamps will work for 400-500 hours then it will die. This
timings will change based on the brand.
Note:This is the starting symptoms of weak lamp.

post a comment for further assistance.
Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

HOW TO GET A FULL PICTURE WITH OUT BORDERS ON EACH SIDE

It depends what you're watching: For regular TV, cable, satellite and DVD then you just need to use the Aspect ratio button. It is the PIX SHAPE button. Make sure all your source boxes have their picture menus set for a 16:9 (widescreen) TV.

If you are watching Blu-ray, then the situation is different. Blu-ray expects that you have a 16:9 TV. If you use a Blu-ray player to watch a DVD, and that DVD is an older 4:3 shape movie, then you'll be stuck with the bars left and right. It's the player that formats the picture in that way. There's nothing you can do with the TV controls because they'll be locked to 16:9 mode.

Sanyo PLV-55WHD1 picture too dark

It may be the lamp itself, some will dim just before failing.

Average life is 2000 hours or two years for OEM lamps and much less for generic ones.

Pixelated screen on sanyo plvz2

Hi focushere

This could only be one of two things - either the cable that will need replacement or the Mainboard of the Projector.

Try using a different cable first , in other words a new DVI cable.

If this doesn't fix the problem ( which I'm sure is going to ) you will have to get the Mainboard repaired at a Service Provider.

Sanyo plv-z1 wont turn on

Hi

This is normally a clear indication that the lamp is in need of replacement.

Take out the lamp and check for any damage like discolouration or bubbles just to make sure before you invest in a new lamp.

PLV-Z1 no longer powering up - Ready light is green and the Lamp light is red

I have a Sanyo XU35. Mine was starting up and showed a picture for about 15 - 30 seconds then shutting down. My lamp warning light was not coming on. When I put it in for repairs it turned out to be the lamp that needed replacing. The technician said it is not uncomman for the lamp to be gone and the lamp warning light not to come on. I got my lamp on e-bay from ping_ngo for a great price.
