Must be a clog in wand?
Check to see if there's suction during normal vacuuming.
if so, there's a clog for sure in wand.

Dc 14 does not suck very well when on carpets massive suction through wand

Hi Diane, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC14 isn't picking up well on carpets despite having strong suction through the wand, there are some simple troubleshooting checks you can run through. I understand you've checked for blockages and washed the filter, but there may be something you've overlooked. These checks will help you determine if there's a blockage or another issue that may be causing this: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc14/dc14-all-floors/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/no/loss-of-performance

If you'd like further advice after giving each of these diagnostic checks a try, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Dyson DC14 Animal: Loses suction when in the upright postion and I am using the wand. I have cleaned the top spongy filter. It sort of 'blows' out of the top of the cylinder if that makes sens

Hi Sharon,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual through the wand, this may be due to a blockage in the wand, hose or U-bend. The easiest way to check for this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc14/dc14-origin-iron/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suction

Although I note you've cleaned the filter, you might want to check you've washed it as shown in the video below - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Wash both parts of the filter in cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for it to dry before replacing it.

This should resolve your issue, but for any further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can help.

Best wishes,

Jack

Why doesn't the Dyson work at base with brushes

Hi Barbara,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If your machine has suction through the wand, but not through the cleaner head, it's likely that there's a blockage somewhere in the cleaner head. The filter may also need a wash.

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=622&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

This should resolve the issue - however, if you'd like further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US) so we can help.

Kind regards,

Jack

No suction in the wand

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If there's no suction from the wand, it's likely that you have an obstruction somewhere in the wand, hose, or the u-bend at the lower rear of the cleaner. For guidance in checking for and removing any obstructions, please see our online troubleshooting guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=626&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

It's also a good idea to give the filter a wash. Under normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergent, and allow up to 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it. You can see how to do this below:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=622&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

Following these steps should allow you to resolve the issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and feel you'd like to speak to someone directly, you can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

Dyson hose does not produce alot of suction when extended.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the wand/hose is blocked. with the machine locked in the upright positino, remove the hose from the machine, switch on and test the suction. If the suction is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction from the top of the hose. If the suction is strong, you will need to check the wand for a blockage. If the suction is still poor, check the hose for a blockage.

You may find it useful to wash the filter as this can sometimes cause a drop in performance if its dirty and it wuold be more noticable from the hose.

I hope that this information is useful to you.

Kind regards
Darran

No suction on wand of Dyson DC14 Animal

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose from the machine as if you were going to use it to vacuum the stairs. Switch the machine on and test the suction at the top of the wand handle with your hand. If the suction from the wand is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction again from the top of the hose. If the suction here is good, then you know the wand handle is blocked. If the suction is poor at the hose, you can remove the hose from the machine and clear any blockages here.

For the full blockage procedure please visit the support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards

The wand does not have much suction

Here is a link to a YouTube video that walks you through the steps to check for obstructions which may cause your low wand suction problem. If you are getting good suction from the vacuum itself, an obstruction between the motor and the wand head is the most likely cause of your problem. The unit being used in the video is a DC04 but applies equally as well to a DC7 or DC14. Here is the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGLCJDXvqwY

Hope this helps. If it does, please leave feedback! It is the only way I can tell if I am being of assistance or just wasting my time.
