The thing about vacums is they all suck! Ok, now that I've completed my comedic exercise...You didn't provide a lot of detail. I'll assume it turns on...have the filters been changed lately because some models have filters that if not clean...will restrict air flow when dirty or clogged. You may have to take it apart and Vacuum cleaners are not overly complicated. If you go online you may find a maual on your model which show where all the important screws are that have to be removed to open the thing up. of course..make sure it's unplugged before you try opening it up. If the motor spins and the filters are OK, it could be the motor is just spinning freely and not actually turning the wheel that creates the vacuum. So you'll have to try and see if the blower wheel is spinning free or if it's solidly connected to the motor. If the blower wheel isn't connected to the motor solidly...there's your problem....the motor is spinning but not turning anything. Best thing to do is look up the model online and find the schecmatic/manual/parts manual for it. Seeing that will give you a better idea of how the thing is constructed and what might be causing the problem. Also, if you take it apart, mark the screws/bolts so you put them back in the right holes.

My Dyson D14 was used by electricians to clean up plaster dust when chasing out wiring! It has not worked properly since. My husband has twice taken it apart and cleaned filters carefully drying all

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Our machines are designed and tested for standard domestic use only, and we do advise against using them to clean up large quantities of fine powders, such as plaster dust.

It's possible that if the plaster dust has damaged the filter, replacing this will improve performance. However, I'd encourage you to get in touch with us directly before ordering a replacement - our experts will take you through some quick troubleshooting checks just to make sure that a new filter will resolve the issue.

You can reach our freephone customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US). Please have your machine to hand when you call.

Best wishes,

Jack

My vacuum throws dirt out and hits my feet.

Hi Peggy,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. From what you described, it sounds as if your machine has a blockage. The filter may also need a wash.

Although I note you already took it apart, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to make sure you haven't missed anything:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc07/dc07-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/wand-suction

In normal use, the filter needs to be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. We'd recommend using cold water without detergent. Leave the filter somewhere warm to dry, such as in an airing cupboard or by a radiator, for at least 12 hours, and make sure you don't replace the filter in the machine before it's totally dry.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give our customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Jack

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. Like most Dyson cleaners, your DC14 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. This is often due to a blockage, or because the filters need a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=626&product=DC14-ANIMAL

The correct way to wash the filter is shown in the video linked below. The filter should be washed in cold water at least once every 3-6 months. Always ensure it's totally dry before replacing it.

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1942&product=DC14-ANIMAL

Hopefully this should resolve your issue. However, if you've followed these steps and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 - our Helpline is open from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you and recommend the best course of action.

Just bought this Hoover Fusion vaccum used, cleaned it up, checked belt and filter, turned it on and is extremely loud, almost like a scream. Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix?

Loud noises from this model are caused by dirt build up on the suction fan mounted directly to the motor. Under the dirt cup there is a filter screen that should have a foam filter insert, when not used or cleaned properly allows dirt to get into the motor. Cleaning is the best option. Although if you are inclined, you can take it apart or take it to your local deaLer.

Stuck Brushes on My Hoover SteamVacV2 Turbine Help!

Did you pull the brush block out to see the the shaft hasn't broken off of the brush block? If so, then replace the brush block. From the bottom, take the screws, 2 of which will be longer ones, these hold down the turbine . Turn it over and the top cover should come off. There 2 posts at the back of the cover, they just fir tight but will come out. The turbine #23,is in the middle, near the front, remove the 2 screws on the front edge of it, unhook the tubing, it will come off. So you can take it apart and clean it out, or go ahead and replace it.

I don't know how to take apart me Rainbow e2 series vac.

I recently took mine apart because the motor stopped working. Realized the brushes were pretty well worn down and one side was completely gone. I was looking on the internet for detailed instructions on how to take it apart. I ended up just ripping it apart with no problems but made a tutorial to help you guys out. Here's a link to it

http://www.vacuumcleanerforum.com/f20/21715-how-take-your-rainbow-vaccum-apart.html

This is for the e-series vaccum, not the e2 but they pretty much have the same design and same motor (e2 has a 2 stage motor).

Let me know if you have any questions
