Question about Eureka Whirlwind 4488 Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

The vacuum is making a ruff sound when it is on. Like the motor is working harder then it should. Do you think it is a belt issue?

Can't get the roller to spin

i suggest taking hose off and declogging it by using a water hose to make sure its free of debris. Plus check your belt first take off bottom plate the you'll be able to tell if belt is broken which it sounds like it is.
if belt is good and hose is clear and still brush wont spin then your brush motor needs replacing. hope this helps.

Hoover H3030-006 240 V Motor making a loud sound and burning smell

If you have little to no suction, that sound is happening because you most likely have a clog some were in the vacuum.

smell is probably your motor over working itself do to the clog.

also double check your belts on your brushes that they are moving with the motor. smell and sound could come from the brushes being jammed which would cause the belt to freeze and heat up and could burn the belt and or your motor.

if it is still running though your not in the red yetm so triple check that the machine is cleared off all clogs and jams in the belts and brushes.

It sucks but the roller doesnt turn...I think my motor has burned out?are these vacuums made anymore? I also need the manual for the model 116 35913401 thanks

this is not a motor problem this sounds like a broken belt. Take the model and make # to your local used vac store and they can help you with the belt. If you dont or cant install it yourself bring the whole maching to them and they will do it for next to nothing.

Loud noise

I think you damaged the belt. I ran over a sock once and it made a grinding noise but still worked for several months after the incident. Finally, the belt broke off. I had it replaced and now it doesn't make that sound.

You probably need to replace your belt. Rubber vacuum belts require replacement every 3-6 months.
There are 4 screws on the bottom of your machine on the plate covering the brushroll. Remove these, remove the brushroll and belt, place the new belt over the motor pulley, (the metal bar sticking out of the motor,) then place it on the brushroll and pull the brushroll back into place. Spin the brushroll to ensure that the belt is not pinched, and replace the baseplate. Party.

Fixing my vacuum cleaner

Check to make sure that your agitator still spins. (Agitator = brush). If your agitator still spins, it eliminates your belt and agitator as likely culprits. The last possible solution would be that your vacuum is clogged. The grinding sound might be a motor-related issue or could possibly mean your bearings are going out. Check the bearings of the agitator and the motor of the vacuum.

Accessing to the agitator and belt can be done by removing the bottom cover of your vacuum. There are 2 scews that are holding the bottom cover to the head of the unit. Remove these 2 scews and the bottom cover should snap off.

Panasonic MC-V7395 Belt overheating/snapping

I have the same problem. I keep thinking I have fixed it, but then another belt breaks. I only have the issue when the roller is disengaged. (on bare floor setting). I did find that the unit was slipping back into engaged slowly, because the disengage mechanizim was not kathing prperly,. Tightened up a screw, and now appears to hold, but somehow the belt still get broken - I beleave it is an issue that the belt is not staying away from the drive when it is disengaged.
