Try a wired connection first. Then when know your systems are working try the wireless again.

There may be other wireless in the area, so make sure you connect to yours.

Go to a PC that is connected to the router, bring up a browser and type in the router's IP address. (default 192.168.1.1)

Goto the menu on the router, default login is " admin", there is no password.
Once on the main page, go to the far right tab, "STATUS" and right underneath that is a sub menu, select "local networks"
A the bottom of the page, there will be a button that will display all of the devices connected to your router.
If you see your device there, then your router is seeing your ps3s.
Your PS3s are not properly configured to use the network.
Remeber, there is a difference between seeing the router and having an internet connection. This why the first test is to connect with an ethernet cable.

Let me know how the suggestions turn out..

good luck and don't forget to vote!!!

You may need to update your firmware or reset your network connection in the Network Settings.

Trying to update ps3 but the ps3 is unable to find usb info

It could be the USB itself, have you tried a different one? If you can update via internet connection, you may want to explore that route. If you have issues updating via internet connection, make sure that your media servers are turned off as this may stop the upload. You can find the media server connections under the settings tab. Hope this helps.

What is a dns error and how do i fix it

DNS error occurs when your internet connection is fluctuating and your PS3 console was unable to detect an active internet connection. This is not a problem with the PS3 System as it much more of your ISP or internet service provider which is disconnecting.

Easiest way to update your ps3? do you use your usb-slot or the network-connection-slot?

Hi

The easiest way by far to perform an update is when your ps3 is connected to the internet.

1) Go to the settings menu
2) Select system update
3) Select update via internet

You will get a message if your system is already up to date. Otherwise the update will be downloaded and installed automatically for you.

System updates via PC are a lot more complicated - however if you cannot connect to the Net with your ps3 to the internet for some reason you can have a look at this guide on how to do this which is very good.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.

Unable to download system upgrade version 2.60

I was able to connect fine for a month before the 1.50 update and then things got really wierd. I have gone through entire days unable to connect to the network and entire days able to connect. Meanwhile I had full use of the PS3 internet browser and no other computer or internet issues. I can currently confirm that if I return my PS3 internet settings the original "automatic" settings I will not be able to connect, with these DNS settings in the PS3 I have no problems. I have cable internet access through Adelphia with a Linksys WRT54GS router communicating wirelessly with my PS3... GOOD LUCK!
The information I used to create this fix contained a link that has provided us with router specific DNS information to be used if the numbers provided do not work. http://www.opendns.com/start/at_home.php
Now, a day later, I am able to connect with the original automatic settings for everything including DNS. I must also point out that the network performance is much faster using the automatic settings and recommend using alternate DNS settings only when neccessary.

All I can say for those still having problems is reboot EVERYTHING. Your router, modem, PS3 and any other device that may be connected to your network.

If you still have problems try connecting the ps3 directly to your modem not through the router...

Ive got verizon wireless broadband for my lap top and cant seem to be able to get online with ps3

Can you provide more information?  The Verizon Wireless broadband access is for your laptop only.  In order for the PS3 to take advantage of it, you'll have to setup Internet Connection Sharing on your laptop. That way your PS3 can connect to your laptop via your laptop's wireless connection (in Ad Hoc mode since you don't have a wifi network) and access the internet via the VzW Broadband Access.
