Question about Mantis Zama C1uk54a Carburetor Echo Tc2100 Or Tiller

1 Answer

The wire that goes from the on/off switch on the tiller handle broke off at the tiller side. Where does it re-attach to? I have to push the choke lever to the on position when its running to get it to stop without this attached. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The wire that runs the length of the handle and terminates at the engine is attached to a spade or bullet connector that is attached at the magnetto (spark plug wire comes from the magnetto). if it jus broke off you should be able to see where it attaches on the connector.

Starting manual for mantis

all of the mantis tiller manuals can be found here:
http://mantis.com/mantis-owners-manuals.asp
just pick out the appropriate one and away you go.

as far as starting it goes, make sure the switch is set to "I" and not "O" (top handle.) be sure you have gas in it, pull out the choke knob (front of the tiller) and depress the bubble once. pull the engine cord until the machine tries to start, then push in the choke and pull again - the engine should start within a couple of pulls. let it warm up before you try to do any tilling, and you're good to go!

Can not find my manual for the mantis tiller..forgot hot to start it up for the first time

You should be able to go to the Mantis web site and download the owners manual. To start, make sure the switch in turned on, push the fuel primer bulb several times (until you feel resistance), pull the choke out all the way and pull the starter rope until it fires. Then, push the choke half way in and it should start. Let it run a 30 seconds to 1 minute and then push the choke all the way in. Be sure you are using the currect fuel/oil mixture with fresh gas and oil. If you have not done so already clean the air filter and replace the spark plug at the recommended interval.

Starting instructions on off switch only labeled O and -

O and I are the international symbols for off and on. The O is the off position and the I is the on position. Put the switch in the I position. Make sure there is properly mixed fuel in the tank. Your Mantis probably uses fuel mixed 1 part 2cycle oil to 50 parts gasoline. Push the primer bulb a few times until you see fuel in the bulb. Position the choke lever to full choke, open the throttle completely and use short, quick pulls on the rope until the engine sputters. Reposition to choke to half and pull the rope again. The engine should start at this time. Let the engine run for a few seconds, then push the choke lever to off. Go to work in the garden.
Good luck!

Honda 4 cycle cult wont start. New gas primer primes new spark plug. Won't fire.

Check the start switch and the start switch line. If not broken, check the choke switch and try different settings to start it. Last check the gas line for any cracks. This tiller can be easily be flooded when pushing the prime button..

How can i get my mantis to start? i am vision impared and have trouble seeing the settings. what should the i/o switch be set at? the choke? how many times on the primer bulb be presses? thanks

Hi again,
the I / o switch is for i = ignition or ON - the O = off

not seeing the choke you will need to push the control one way or the other - using memory push the choke control full one way and try to start the unit - it if fires off pull it back about 1 quarter of the way back away from full on choke.
As for pushing the bulb - if the unit has not been started for a month or more - push the bulb 10 times. - if you're restarting the unit after a short pause in use then 3 times.
Best of luck with this.
Also you might just want to drop by a Lowes hardware and they will help you if you need further help.

Choke stuck in closed position1984 VW Rabbit

Hi !
Firstly see if the choke wire is stuck from inside itself or from the Carburetor side.
To check this you will need to pull - push the small knob on the Carburetor where the choke wire is attached. If it moves freely then the choke wire is stuck in itself.

If it is stuck from the Carburetor side then you could use a spray like WD40 to free the leaver.

Else disengage the wire from the Carburetor and pull the wire out from the inside. Clean the wire and lubricate it by using any good lubricant (engine oil works the best). Then slowly push the cable back and fasten the wire back with the Carburetor.
Regards
Berry.

you need to be looking at the inside of the door
the frame around the glass the choke
will pop off,,
take a small flat head place it between the choke and the frame down by the hinge. pry ever so carefully it will pop out slide the screwdriver around the edge until the whole choke is dislodged
once the choke is off
you will see the two screws for the handle
you may need to lift the latch mechinism to get to the bottom one
once your done you can simply push the choke back it place you will here it snap

be careful the choke is very brittle
and will break if bent

I have a troy pony 17.5 that cuts off when you engage the blade and the choke is on. what can i do to fix the problem. thank you for any help to fix this problem

does it run ok off choke with blade not engaged can you rev it up ? if not it sounds like the carbs got issues ? if it does check the second wire coming off the igntion coil too the safety switch may be grounding /shorting causing engine to shut off kinda like the handle on your push mower when you walk away and let go of the handle the zone control cable stops the spark and flywheel ? carb rebuilds at your local shop are under $100 well worth it unless youve done it before kit costs like $15

Choke is not hooked up to anything. What does the choke hook up to on a troy built tiller?

The choke (butterfly valve inside the carburetor) is attached to a lever on the side of the carburetor. This lever opens and closes the butterfly valve. Attach the choke cable to this lever.
