Question about Magellan Roadmate 1200 Car GPS Receiver
The USB connection to the GPS serves 2 purposes. It charges the battery and interfaces with the computer to update and or get new maps.
There are separate chargers so you do not have to hook it up to the pc.
There are also car chargers for extended service in the car.
The indication of updating may be needed but you won't know unless you select it.
I updated my Magellan 1412 recently, I downloaded a file, and when I connected the GPS to the pc, I was instructed to run the program I downloaded.
good luck and don't forget to vote!!!
