Its caused by a 2 minute fix. open the unit and on the back of the panel you will find a small 2 x 3 board and there are two pink resistors beside the wire connection from the transformer. you need to replace the resistors and the problem should be fixed. i have fix alot of issues with these units display.

Onkyo TX-SR 805 flashes message "Test - < - 42" when switched on at power button.

Hello, you seem to be in technician test mode. Unplug the receiver for an hour, turn on and perform a reset by holding vcr/dvr and then on/standby. This should resolve your issue. Thank you, Onkyo USA

Onkyo TX NR515 .. when in standby mode .. light is not coming on .. everything works fine .. i must have pressed something by mistake but cant work it out what ... on the display panel in standby mode...

If Zones are turned on or, if a mobile device connected to the Front Input is charging (MHL), the HYBRID STANDBY indicator won't light. See the TX NR515 owner's manual at http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/own_manuals/TX-NR515_English.pdf for more info.

Onkyo TX-DS777 does not retain settings after power loss

No internal battery, a large "SuperCap" on the main board acts as one. Look for C8007, 0.1 F, 5.5V.

Hi I have an Onkyo TX-SR875. The AV receiver display panel has gone, so I reset it to factory defaults to see if it would bring it back - it didn't. Worse can't now see the on-screen setup menu to setup...

This is a common problem on onkyo receivers like the 805, 875 etc. The front panel display board has 2 faulty resistors(marked 9304 & 9310) which can blow out easily. Replacing them with some very basic soldering, resolved the issue for me.

View this link on the AVS forum for detailed instructions .
