It's most likely your computers firewall on the pc which is blocking it.

Turn it off and try again

Restore

  • Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.

How to restore your iPod:
For Windows:
  • 1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
  • 2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
  • 3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes.
  • 4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
  • 5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
    • Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
    • Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
    • Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
    • Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
  • 6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
  • 7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
  • 8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

The security lock is on my ipod nano and i dont know the password. we have tried to restore it but it wont work. what can we don

Here are a few things you could try.

1) Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect your iPod from the computer, it should no longer be locked.

2) go to the hidden folder ipod_control on the ipod then go to device folder and delete the _locked file. Note this will only unlock the ipod but you will not be able to put in a new code until you restore the ipod.
e.g (ipod drive)\ipod_control\device\

3) You can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. This will erase all data on your iPod (so ideally you want to try 1 then 2 first)! Then, you can add your music and data back to your iPod - providing you have your data backed up of course.

Please leave feedback

Cheers

Andy

Ipod touch is locked forgot password cant unlock

plug it into your computer and through itunes on your original computer you will be able to reset it. If it is not the original computer that you are using you will be able to reset it but will probably lose the information on it.

I tried to find out the time on my new ipod nano 4 generation. This ipod being my first I didn't have much experience with ipods and their choices. So when I tried to find out the time I accidently clicked...

I hate to tell you this but your going to have to restore your ipod using itunes. The only way to resolve this issue with a password is to restore it. Hope you don't have to loose music to do this. When you connect the ipod and itunes recognizes it you will see your summary page. Simply click on restore/update and follow the instructions. Good Luck

How do i reset the password on my ipod

hold the menu button, connect it to your computer, let iTunes open up (keep holding it down)
there should be a message like 'iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode'...
don't let go of home until that message shows.

this resets your ipod and puts it into emergency recovery mode
just follow what it says, and you should be good to go

Ipod nano lock forgot password

First, try to restore using iTunes. If this doesn't work, place your iPod in disk mode (hold the menu and center buttons down togther) and as soon as you see the Apple symbol come up hold the center and play (bottom) buttons down together until you see a check mark (disk mode). It may take a few trys.

Now connect your iPod to your computer. Go to my computer and right click the drive associate with your iPod (for example F: ) and scroll down to FORMAT. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - CHOOSE FAT32 and then check the "Quick Format" box. After you do this then use iTunes to Restore your iPods another time.
