Question about JVC AV-48WP30 48" Rear Projection Television

JVC AV 48WP30 projection tv bleeding problem

I am getting a red ghosting/bleeding image. If I go to the front and remove the wood panel and turn the red gun off (with one of the 6 buttons), the picture is ok except missing red color.
From what I read on line, this is a convergence problem and it seems that I need to change the IC's.
Where do I purchase these IC and how do I get instructions to do this

Thanks

Yves

The STK392-150 ICs run cooler and last longer, they are a little more exspensive but are completely interchangeable the 392-110 are what your set comes with from the factory

Jvc tv 56 convergence problem

on the 48WP30, you get to the convergence board through the front. Around the back edge of the speaker grille are four screws. You remove these screws. Then you remove the two other screws at the top of the speaker grille near the center panel underneath the front av input door.

THen after you get the speaker grille off, you take the four screws out of the wood panel door and take it off:

Those two big black heat sinks on the front there are your SK chips...on the convergence board of course. pop it up from those four tabs, and that will let you carefully move the convergence board so that you can reach in better, and unhook the three plugs on the right side (looking at it from the heat-sink side) behind the heatsinks (one for red, green, and blue each) and then on the other side of the board, you disconnect the other two plugs, but there's one that you actually have to trace back into the inside of the TV and unplug from a vertical standing board, since the socket is not on the convergence board itself. let me draw up a little graphic real quick.

Hope that helps.

JVC AV-48WP30 48 in. Rear... Problem

Your convergence I.C's ( integrated circuits ) Have failed. Replace Both I.C's with Stk392-150's. The unit is equipped with 110's. These are large IC's pn the convergence board located near the front of the unit. You need soldering/desoldering experience to do this job. I would recommend seeking professional assistance.

Roger, if your contrast (sometimes called picture) and brightness controls are at max you can increase the tubes brightness by turning the "screen control" clockwise, be advised a little turn goes a long ways, don`t crank it too far or you will get retrace lines, you will have to remove the back from the set and follow the red wire down from the tube to the "flyback transformer" on the front of the flyback are 2 controls, focus and screen, do not move the focus control, this should fix your problem.
