This is a common problem with Moen shower valves and fairly simple to fix. The pressure balancing cartridge is sticking inside. You need to remove the cartridge and clean it with white vinegar. The problem appears in valves that are not used very often - like in a guest room shower. The impurities in the water leave a varnish-like residue that causes the element to lock up and restrict hot water flow. If you are the original owner Moen will send you a free replacement cartridge but cleaning the one you have will do the trick. Once it's working be sure to run the hot water at least once a week. Here's how to fix it:
1. Turn off water supply to the house or at the PEX panel if you have one.
2. Remove handle by loosening the set screw at the bottom of the handle and pulling off.
3. Remove escutcheon plate by removing 2 screws on the face.
4. Remove escutcheon tube surrounding the valve by pulling with a needle nose pliers.
5. Using an awl or small screwdriver pry the retaining clip up and remove - DON'T DROP IT behind the tile!!
6. Using a pliers, pull out the cartridge. If it won't budge you can try some WD-40 or PB Blaster and if that doesn't work you'll need to buy a "Moen Cartridge Puller" (about $13 @ Home Depot) and it will come right out.
7. Shake the cartridge. If it does NOT rattle you've found the problem. Soak it in white vinegar for 15 minutes and try shaking it again and repeat till you hear the pressure balance element move back and forth. A shot of PB Blaster also helps.
8. Once the element is moving freely you can reassemble everything by working in reverse - don't forget to reinstall the retaining clip or the cartridge will become a missile! TIP: To prevent dropping the clip tie a string through the hole in the top and tape the other end to the wall. If it slips you can just pull it up. Also, spray a little PB Blaster in the valve body before inserting the cartridge to make it easier to seat it.
Hope this helps!

I just installed abrand new single handle delta shower faucet and the water does not get hot enough.

Many single-handle shower mixers have a hot limit, usually limiting the throw of the handle. You could go to the mfg's website (www.deltafaucet.com) & find instructions for adjusting it. Or, if you're handy, you could take off the handle & have a look; it shouldn't be too hard to see what's stopping the handle from turning more towards the hot side. Make changes in small increments & remember where you started.

We installed a new singel handled faucte in our shower and now we are running out of hot water. this never happened in this house before. we always have plenty of hot water, i called delta and they said...

The way the faucet cartridge is designed it will protect you from large changes in water pressure. This can happen if someone is useing the shower and someone else flushes a tolet there is a sliding valve in the cartridge that will close off hot water supply to protect you from getting scalded. If you are not getting hot enough water there are adjustment you can make to increase the maximum setting.
As long as you are getting good hot water supply in other fixtures in your house I doubt that changeing the water heater is going to help.
I think that you may have a defective cartridge and I would call delta again and give them another chance. They generally have very good customer service, and perhaps the one you talked do did not understand that you have good hot water supply elsewhere.
If you do not have hot enough water to shower valve that can eaisily adjusted by removing set screw that holds the handle on and remove the handle. If there is a white temp. limit disc on the stem then remove it. Slid the chrome sleeve from around the valve body off. You should see a disc that you can slid out a little and rotate to the left a small amount. This adjusting disc and its mating surface have teeth on them that mate. There should be marks on the valve and disc with a arrow on them to show which way to turn for hotter water.Reassemble and check.
If your water starts out hot and then gets cooler while being used and you still have hot water in other places then I think you have a defective cartridge. It should be under warranty. Hope this helps you some. Good luck and thank you.

Replace valve canister- no construction- just remove after taking time to shut off water- a few screws and the job takes 15 minutes. I take for granted you have good water hot/cold to the fixture. This fix will cure most temperature balance problems.
The single lever system is a EZ care system. Note the canister can malfunction faster when exposed to untreated hard water.

I bought a Danco 3H-10H/C, Hot/Cold stem. The problem is, it seems to be setup for hot (clockwise closes the valve, counter clockwise closes it). Is it reversable? Or is it not really a hot/cold...

One of two things has happened. I'm assuming you only get hot water when you open the valve and that this is for a single handle control shower fixture. If so either this is the wrong valve for your shower control or it is installed backwards. Sometimes the valve can be installed at either 180 degree angles. See if it can be installed any other way. If so this may solve the problem.

Bosch water heater

I'd initially check for a cross connection (cold water leaking into hot water system). This can be done by shutting off the cold water feed to the tankless unit, then opening up hot water fixtures around the home. You should see the water come to a complete stop; if you see a steady stream of water, then you have a cross connection. The most common place for a cross connection is at single handled showers. The valve cartridge starts to fail over time.

Not enough hot water

The screws remove the handle. After the handle is removed their are little plastic like gears to limit th ehot watr. Relocate the gear ring for more hot water.
