Question about Mitsubishi X500U Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

I have a Mitsubishi X500U projector which, after changing lamps and resetting the timer, will start and then go back off after about 2 seconds. The lamp lights, and when I push the "computer" button to provide the input, it shows the computer screen and then goes blank. I've pushed the main reset on the unit, reseated the lamp, and cleaned all air inlets. What's going on that I can't get this unit up and running? (New lamp was ordered through internet source)

PRojector lights and then goes into lamp shut down after less than 5 seconds. Lamp is the same model number as the one replaced, althought neither was OEM. Is there a way to test the newer lamp or the older? Are these the only reasons the lamp won't stay powered? Power light stays on, lamp light blinks when lamp turns off.

Looks like it's a defective lamp, either by manufacture or damaged in shipment. After reinstalling the old lamp and resetting the timer, the projector ran. Thanks for the suggestion.

As you replace the lamp and reset the timer it should work. But if its not working then there are few reasons. The lamp door switch/lever is not closed properly or its loose.Check that.If its ok,then other possibility, the replacement lamp is working but its not compatible to your tv.On some tv models they dont detect compatible lamps. They see only original lamp.If that is not the cases then other possibility is that the lamp is faulty. --------- To get replacement lamp online there are few online sites. Please click on this link directly:---There are 2 types of lamp.one is original and one is compatible.the original is costly.see both. http://www.partstore.com/SearchModel/Mitsubishi/Mitsubishi/X500U.aspx ------------ There is one more link:---

Lamp light blinks when lamp turns off. This is the indication of lamp not getting detected.
Replacing the lamp should help.Insert the old lamp and new lamp ,one by one.And see what difference it shows in the light blinking and what indication it gives. If in both cases the lamp light blinks and shuts off the new lamp is not getting detected. So get the original lamp.and check it.It will work.
Thanks for keeping updated with your query.

I changed the lamp in my sp7210 the new lamp is working fine but.

just to be sure you have the correct timer reset procedure: power the projector up, press and hold down the 2 brightness buttons for at least 10 seconds. if that doesn't work, you'll need to upgrade the firmware. go to the infocus website.

Can't start infocus sp7200 after changing lamp.

The end of lamp timer has reached it's limit and won't let the new lamp strike. What you need to do is Reset the end of life timer. To do this, with the projector switched off press and hold both the up and down Brightness buttons on the projector. while holding them in turn on the projector. Continue holding the buttons in for 10 to 15 seconds This will reset the end of life timer in the projector.

Cheers
