Question about Toys

2 Answers

Just picked up a used Gaucho Grand for the grandkids. As I look it over I see there is nothing connected to the keys hole. I planned on getting new batteries but it looks like I may need more than just batteries! Should there be a connection for a key? Is there something else I should be checking before I invest in batteries. It looks great, spent $10 for it, but wonder how many things may be wrong! brunohilda@gmail.com

I do not find any working ignition switches for sale on any site. Also, I bought a battery charger and the light turns to green as soon as I plug it in. Does this mean the old batteries are dead?

Yes that would indicate the battery is definitely having an issue. I don't think the key on this unit is necessarily imperative to it functioning. But maybe I am wrong, still researching here. Is there any other way you can spot to turn on the unit?

Still checking here, but wanted to at least let you know about the battery, and it may not be worth the investment in a new battery, as the more I read the more it looks like you would need a new "ignition" and it's going to end up costing more than a new Gaucho Grande before long...

Hi,

This does happen with some of the older Gaucho vehicles which have an working ignition switch. Make sure the key is turned to the right to where the key is horizontal. This can be an easy oversight. If this has already been checked, try checking fuses. It is always better to make sure the simple things are checked before you start spending money on parts. I would not replace switches unless the vehicle moves in one direction but not another. It is very unlikely that both switches went bad causing immobilization. If it does not run in any speed, it may need a new high low switch or reverse switch. The Peg Perego Parts can be found at this website:
http://www.shopjandl.com/asgi0094y.html they seem to know about these Gauchos and they sell the parts as well.

Please accept the solution if it's helpful. Do get back to us for any further query.

Thanks for contacting fixya.com

New Peg Perego Gaucho 24V Superpower. How do you turn it on and off? Connected the battery and the light is green. Is there way to turn it on and off or is it just supposed to be left on?

There is a key on these that turn it on when the battery is connected to the vehicle, so either just unplug the battery or turn the key off. I know on ours, after a few minutes, it would shut off on it's own to save battery power, and we'd have to turn the key back to off, then back on again to get going again. Check out the site modifiedpowerwheels.com, tons of cool info on doing fun stuff to your Gaucho!

How do i remove the key cylinder on a 2000 grand prix

#1: You need to have a working key, and the cylinder must be able to rotate in the start postion.#2 You need the shroud cover, top and bottom. On the top of the colum is a small poke hole, with a pick the cylinder needs to be rotated to the START position and the poke hole should be poked. Ine cylinder will then pop out, Von LOCKEDOUT*LOST KEYS

I have a 2000 Pontiac grand prix GT. Last night i shut off my car and the key would not come out of the ignition. Any thoughts on what I could do to get my key out of their.

Two inches below where you put the key in the ignition is a small hole. I use an allen wrench push it gently into the hole and the key will turn all the way back so you can get the key out. The dealer wanted 4hundred for a new ignition switch. allen wrench $1

The key on my Jeep Wrangler will not turn so that I can crank it. If this is the ignition switch, how is it installed?

could be, try moving wheel right to left while trying to turn the key, steering wheel may have tension on lock, if that doesnt work try another key if still nothing then replace switch, remove cover around switch, then use a pick to push in lock pin must trun key to get pin to go in you will see little hole on housing were lock is that where you install pick and push while truning key, got to get key to turn once more to get that lock out.

Green and red battery lights blink--wont run

I have the same issue. Called their customer service and they said it was a defect in the charging system. They are sending a upgrade kit for free, but when it's installed you can't charge the battery using the rear port anymore. No big deal. I'll report back when the fix is complete. 5-7 days until it gets here.
