Question about Cameras

1 Answer

Unable to upload video footage from JVC GZ-HM300SEK. The manual does not explain properly and I am concerned since I am of the understanding that USB connections should suffice for HD disk camcorders.

I've connected USB, but need to know when I click on any of the options, all I get is a picture of a PC with the option in the title and nothing happens. When I open the folder, everything in there are stated to be non-movie files.

I am using an Applemac which normally recognises the movie files automatically. When I open the folder, there are no mpeg files identified.

Yes you can start your software program, turn on the camera and lastly connect it via usb. Make sure your drivers are updated and also your quicktime player program

When your camera is connected do you go to my computer, then see the camera listed there? Is there no mpeg files there?

You do not need drivers to get the footage from tape to a Mac. You do require a firewire cable and use iMovie or Final Cut to capture.

I can watch my footage on my cam but when i plug my usb in to my cpu they ar not able 2 play back or viable i have a jvc gz hd3u

Hello,
You may not have the proper CODEC installed on your PC for AVCHD videos. Try using VideoLAN or kmplayer to play the video. These multi-format players have most common CODEC's bundled. If you want to play the files with windows media player try installing a codec pack. You can google for that, but I recommend using one of the mentioned players instead as it is cleaner and they are fast.
If your PC does play the video but its really choppy, you might not have a fast enough processor / or video card to keep up with the high bandwidth high def video.
Regards, Chris

JVC GR D250U

This camcorder should not require a driver in order to capture the footage. Start up your capture software, power-up the camera in VCR mode and then connect the Firewire cable. It should then allow you to playback the tape and capture the contents.
Here is the manual online:
http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/94/LYT1353-001A.pdf
If you need a simple program to capture the footage look to: http://www.virtualdub.org/

Your video-editing software (including Windows Movie Maker) should also capture the footage.
