Question about Nakajima Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I need to permanently remove margins from the Nakajima AE-740 typewriter as my documents are wider than standard. The bells drive me crazy, and hitting the margin release button every line is no help!

To set the margins, go to the margin, press but don't hold the mar rel key, space or baclspace to desired position, press L. or R. margin to set it.

How do I reset the margins on a Nakajima typewriter model AE-740

If you want to set the machine back to factory settings do the following... switch the machine OFF.
While holding down the Margin Release key switch the power back ON. The machine will begin typing a pre-programmed test page....let it run for 5 seconds...switch the machine back OFF.
Give it 5 seconds and switch it back On and settings will be back to factory settings...be aware this will clear all memory of any docs or info you had in memory.

Margins won't stay cleared from line to line. Character spacing is wider than what it was yesterday.

On the L. side of the keyboard are some slide switches set the line space at one position and the pitch at 12, now space to the rt. margin press the mar rel key once space to where you want the rt. margin and press the rt. mar key.
