It's taken apart corrected and jams again after several pulls.

The pull cord came off of the spool and jammed. I can't figure out how to take the housing off to respool the line. Any ideas? It seems like the clutch has to come off before the housing is removed but there are no screws I can find. Any ideas?

I am having the same problem. I took it apart and the plastic cap piece for the pull string spool has a crack. This is the plastic piece that turns the engine when pulling. Because of the crack, the absorption spring under the cap slips out of its hole in the cap. This causes the pull string spool to jam after a strong pull that causes the crack to open up. Now I need to find a replacement part. Any ideas?

How do you unscrew the clutch plates?

I have a RY30544 with the same issue...take it apart..fix the string...without the plug..pull and recoils just fine..but in a Spark plug...cord jams on 2nd pull.... I clutch comes of by unscrewing it CCW with a small pipe wrench..but you have to put a Piston Stop into the Spark plug hole or use a nylon cord...something to stop the piston from turning. I have a stop that fit in the SP hole.

Remove the clutch by using a T-25 torx driver. The clutch housing will then come off. Then you have to unscrew the two clutch plates and the housing will come off.

I'm just experienced the same problem, although in my case, the shaft seems to have overheated causing binding which prevents the recoil. I need a new housing. Does anyone know if part are available?

Fuel mixture ratio for Ryobi SS300 weed eater

Are you sure about the model number? I see several 30CC engine string trimmers by Ryobi. Two are the Ryobi RY30040B (SS30) and a RY30544 (SS30).

For both of these models, mix a high quality 2-cycle engine oil at 2.6 oz. per gallon of gasoline to pour into the gas tank. This ratio is used in several other Ryobi string trimmer models. Many Ryobi product manuals are available here: https://www.ryobitools.com/power-tools/support/manuals . Most Ryobi gas powered and 40V battery-powered tools will have a model number that starts with RY. The 18 V battery powered models often start with a P.

I hope this helps. If you add a comment with the actual model number, I may be able to provide more information.

The pull string coil came loose cant figure out how to get the piece that connects to the shaft off on the ryobi ss30 weedeater

There is a cover that you loosen you pull back the handle then youll see a clamp I think its 5/16 loosen it will move but there is a thottle cable you have to loose off the thottle on thr carberator then it will slide off ,if it is a clutch ,the clutch has to be removed by the way of the the arrow then you can get to the rewind

Cant start trimmer

Carb float is not working correctly. Letting to much fuel in. Most likely there is a problem with needing to be cleaned I know you have taken it apart but the float still sounds like it is dirty or the needle on the float is not sealing allowing fuel to rush in

How do I replace the pull cord on a ryobi #ss30 weed trimmer

You need a long skinny T25 torque driver (sold in a pack at Lowe's with 3 other sizes.)

Take off the 4 screws in the back to reveal the piston. Get a wooden dowel (or a wooden spoon if your wife isn't around) and stick it in to the piston to block it from spinning.

Now take that T25 and stick it in to the front pulley (cone shaped silver item that is preventing the housing from coming off) turn to the left and it should come off.

That should come off to reveal about a 1"x1.5" piece with a spring wrapped around it. That can also turn to the left and come off with an adjustable wrench or pliers.

Once that is off the housing should come away and you'll be able to get at the pull cord after removing 4 more T25 screws.

Ryobi SS30 Problem, please help

Hello:

Are you Sire you Used the Correct Fuel Mix Ratio?
Remove the Muffler and Look Into the Exhaust Port.
Is the Piston Scratched and Gouged or is it Smooth like Glass?
If Smooth like Glass, then Check the Carburetor for Trash.
If Scratched and Gouged, then the Wrong Mixture was Used and the Engine is Trashed and will Require a New Piston and Jug (Cylinder) Assembly (a new unit will be cheaper than the parts to repair this unit) for the Unit to Run again.
Hope this Helps.

Good Luck

Respectfully

John
