You need to clean your print head nozzles. Find menu on your printer and push the button then use the up and down arrows to navigate the options. Find the one that says "maintenance" and push "ok" or "enter" from your printers key pad. Then find the "clean print head or nozzle" option and again push the "ok or enter" button on your printers keypad. Follow the instructions to complete the cleaning and print a test page to make sure your problem is solved. If not, repeat the cleaning until the ink flows through your print head correctly.

Fine line running from left to right across page but fades about half across page to nothing, if you print from memory no line, if you run origional thru adf no line, What is causing this line when...


if it is copied on long or legal size of paper are the fine lines on top to bottom or left to right? if it id from top to bottom check for the charge roller, clean an dry it with a cloth, wet with alcohol or water. if from left to right on a legal size of paper check for any vibration coming from the developing unit, like loose gears.

Only printing half a page


Hi KaseyQT,
I noticed your problem and thought I'd contact you about it.

Have you had your printer checked by an expert? As the problem you're having may be to do with the print heads being to close to the paper when printing, this could cause the heads to over heat and be gradually drying the ink while printing or even could be a case of the print heads being to far away from the paper while you're printing.

Also, what sort of paper are you using?

If using glossy paper, have you set the printer to the correct settings? As this could have a big effect on printing, I was once using plain A4 paper but didn't realize that my old printer (Lexmark 4300+) was still set on glossy paper, it was doing the exact same thing.

Instead of re setting the settings of the printer I went to the system restore on the system tools and restored my PC to the last known best working stage (Left click on start, place mouse over All Programs, put pointer over accessories then System Tools and then L click on System Restore, this should give you the choice of either restoring your system to the last known best working point or restoring to a date on the calender provided on screen to a date you knew your pc worked properly.

If this doesn't work then try deleting your printer from your PC by going on to the Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, left click on your printer once and chose the remove or delete option and then try re loading the disk once your system has re started and you have fully logged back on.

If this still doesn't work, I would suggest getting your printer seen to by an expert or buying a new one.

Printer only prints half a page


this is a driver problem, try reinstalling the printer with the laserjet4 driver which is a universal PCL driver, this should solve the problem. If not, there is also a blank HP Laserjet driver
