Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
First check the internet connection to make sure it's still operating properly. Also check the wireless signal strength. Low signal can lead to slow downloads. Fix these if there is a problem.
If there isn't a problem with the connections, something is probably wrong with the machine. It could be that the hard drive is starting to wear out. Try taking the hard drive out and connecting it to a computer. If your computer asks you to format the drive SAY NO. Use a FILE SYSTEM INDEPENDENT HDD scanner to scan the drive for bad sectors. I use HDD Regenerator. It's not free, but it works VERY well. You may use it freely in read only mode to just TEST the drive for bad sectors though. If it has bad sectors, connect it back to the PS3 and back up your PS3 saves immediately and get a new drive.
If there are no bad sectors, something may have gone wrong with the GameOS. Backup your saves and use the PS3 to do a full system format/reset.
Hope this helps.
