Raise the needle and presser foot, and position darning plate onto
the needle plate with the two pins on the back inserted to the holes on the needle plate.

How to drop the feed dog on my Amelia Babylock

The Baby Lock Amelia (BL100A) does not have an option to lower the feed dogs. To use the sewing machine for darning, you need to place the darning plate over the feed dogs. The darning plate is included among the original accessories.

The manual for the Amelia is available from Baby Lock on the product page: http://babylock.com/sewing/amelia/ . See the FAQs & Manuals tab. The direct link to the manual is http://babylock.com/ftp/whitepapers/BL100A_Instruction%20&%20Reference%20Guide_Final.pdf . For the picture of the darning plate, see page 8. Page 27 describes attaching the darning plate.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a source for a replacement darning plate for the Amelia. I hope this helps.

I am trying to darn a hole for the first time. Can you tell me how to set the length of the stitch after I have pressed the reverse button

When you darn with a sewing machine, the operator regulates the stitch width and length by moving the fabric manually. The feed dogs are dropped below the needle plate (or covered with the needle plate cover in the accessory kit). A darning foot is attached to the machine. Then the operator manually moves the fabric back and forth and forward/backward while stitching.

How do I lower the feed dog on a Brother LX3125?

Look on the back of the machine near the feed dogs for a lever to lower them.
If there is none then you need a feed dog cover (or darning plate) that goes over the needle plate.
good luck!

What button do you press on the 415 to make the darning stitch work, all the manuals I have looked at have a typo that has hit a blank button

Hello
Darning is accomplished with the straight stitch in combination with the reverse button and the 'STOP' button. Reverse button is first on the left on display (looks like a fish hook) and the one used to sew backwards. The 'STOP' button is third from the left on the display.

Th e instructions are on page 37 or attached manual online

How do you sew back and forth and how do you put the plate down to sew sew?

What you are referring to is darning. Your manual should have instructions. You would need to install a darning foot, lower the feed dogs (or some machines have a plate that covers the feed dogs).

Dropping feed dogs

Manual seems to imply that you have to cover the needle plate with a "darning plate," which just build up the area around the feed dogs so they don't reach the fabric--pretty inelegant, plus I wonder if you can even find the darning plate anymore. Let me know if you figure out anything else!

How to use a darning foot

Remove yourcurrent presser foot from your sewing machine, and attach the darning foot asyou would any foot. Darning feet look different, depending on the manufacturer, but most will maintain a "C" or "O" shape using eithermetal or clear plastic at their bases.

Drop the feed dogs, or use a cover plate on your machine if feeddogs are not available. If this is not possible, adjust the stitch length ofyour machine to zero or as low as your machine will allow.

Slide your fabric or quilt sandwich into place below the darningfoot. Lower the lever of the darning foot, and hold onto the upper thread withone hand.

Take one complete stitch, and pull up the upper thread to bringthe bobbin thread to the surface. Take multiple stitches in the same place tosecure the threads.

Run the machine as you free-motion sew or quilt your fabric piece, using your fingers to move the fabric instead of the feed dogs, until yourstitching is complete. Replace the darning foot with your preferred presserfoot when finished.

I am trying free motion quilting on my europro 7500 but fabric does not move freely even though I have attached the plate to cover the feed dog and the darning foot. Can you help. Am I missing another step

It sounds like you are doing as you should.

If the darning foot is not "springy" enough and is holding down too firmly, you might look for a "hopping" foot.

I use the Supreme Slider and gloves to help me better move the quilt.

Material will not move forward

Make sure the presser foot is coming all the way down. Check your stitch length setting too.
