Question about Zodiac Baracuda G4 Automatic Pool Cleaner Ne221

1 Answer

My G4 keeps unscrewing itself from the vacuum where the hose piece attaches. I was told it could not be fixed and I would have to buy a new part that runs about $90. Is there a way to fix this issue?

Probally, but before I did anything I would take it to another pool store and get their oponion. For me to tell you without looking at it we could go on forever.

I read somewhere to try silicon. The part in question is the cassette outer extension pipe. It screws onto the main body of the vacuum.

I work in the field and don't do a lot of repairs on cleaner heads because who wants to pay me to do a repair they can get done for nothing? If I'm in a store, it's like this site. I'm sick I'll do it for nothing. Point being I don't price the parts much. Ninty bucks seems like a lot to invest in an old cleaner. If the cleaner isn't that old then we'er talking about a part that shouldn't show much wear. If you have a current in your pool the unit could be doing an endless dance in one direction. Causing it to unscrew. This can be helped by adjusting your eyeball returns downward. Also you can take it completely apart and cleaning and lightly sanding anything that dos'nt move freely. Check for memory in your hose that would cause an endless dance also.
As I say on this I could go on and on. I would start with another store first as sometimes the one you get may want to sell parts more than help you. Also chech the price of the part at an on-line site, Leslies is a good retailer with most parts for anything listed.
I wish I could be more help but some things I can reach for, I just can't get.

Oh yea! When it comes to silicone. This is not silicone caulk. What you want is silicone or teflon grease to lube anything that has trouble moving freely. (see take apart and litly sand)
If it comes down to holding the nut in place you can use a small self tapping stanless steel screw to do that.

Not a problem. As I say it's a sickness. Have a good one also.

G4. Why does it only seem to have suction with the hose detached?

Hey, this is Jeremy with Crucial Vacuum,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Kirby G4. It sounds like your problems might stem from one of two areas:

1) Your hose may not be attached properly and allowing for air to enter the hose at the point of attachment.

2) The vacuum bag may not be properly attached to the hose connector.

Below I have attached a link to the users manual for the Kirby G4. You should refer to page 9 and 20-21 to view the diagrams pertaining to my suggestions.

I need to know how to attach the aquamate accessory to my rainbow vacuum. It's a D4 C model

You should have a non-electric hose which you want to attach to the vacuum suction, then take the long skinny hose and hook it to you kitchen faucet. You may have to unscrew the end piece from your faucet. turn on youir hot water. On the handle of the aquamate, there is a little holder. Unhook it by releasing the yellow button. Put your shampoo to the line, no need to dilute, the Aquamate will mix the right amount to the water. Now you are ready to shampoo. You can pick up water until you hear the machine stress out. That is time to change the water in the basin. It is probably best to change it before that, but don't worry, the separator keeps it out of the motor. Hope this helps fixya! Thanks, Let me know, Rene (the Vacuum Doctor)

My kirby vacuum just quit when I was vacuuming my car

Your Kirby has a cut off switch in the front where your hose attaches and also on the side where your bag attaches. If the plastic prong that activates the switch broke off your hose you vac will not turn on. If you put the head back on and make sure your bag is on correctly and the machine runs, you just need a hose end to fix your problem.

I have a red c velvet. My vacuum keeps shutting

Could be you have a filter issue and it is overheating and shutting itself off. Make sure you have not put on the wrong filter type for the machine. Some of the pieces that come in the FJM boxes are not actually filters and people make the mistake of putting them on as filters. The other major problem that could be happening is that there is some problem with the hose itself. On my vacuum it will shut itself off after 2-5 minutes, but the power light remains on. I have to press the up button to get more suction, but that only lasts until it shuts itself off again. If I unplug the hose from the cannister... the power comes on fully and the vac never shuts itself off.
A tech told me that the likelihood is that there is some component or connection in the hose control that is causing faulty shutdown. He told me I would need a new hose costing $175. After a year of trying different things, I am convinced he is right and we need to bite it and just buy a new hose.

The hose is disconnected, new bag in unit, new filter, unit runs when hose is detached but immediately turns off when hose is attached but hose has no obstruction, etc.. i was told i need some sort of...

There is a vacuum hose that attaches inside the unit to a round clear plactic piece. In most cases you can simply cut the small vacuum hose and it will fix the problem.

Where do I connect the hose and it's attachments

You need the suction/blower connector on the hose:

This must be for G4 or G3 model as later models had this part a bit different.

For rest of the attachment go HERE.
I can sell you used FULL G4 attachment set for 99.00

Hose for G3 Kirby doesn't fit Sentria

Yes G3 and G4 had different gasket thus the suction blower connector connecting Kirby hose to the unit on later models is different. You do not need to replace entire hose but just the plastic part that connects to the vacuum. You can find it HERE. To remove old connector you may have to submerge the end of the hose into hot water (not to hot to touch) so the vinyl becomes soft and you can bend it in with finger bringing plastic end over the lip on the molded end of the hose.

Good Luck
