Question about Kenmore Dryers
Could be the heating element or maybe not. The first thing to check. Remove the back. Near the bottom center is a link fuse that looks like this.
It should check at zero ohms with a VOM meter. If bad replace.
It's a nickle dime part and fails a lot.
If it checks O.K. then the next item to check is the heating element itself. It's in the canister on the right side.
Here is a link to changing it, if it checks bad with a VOM meter.
It should read less than 35 ohms.
As far as prices go, a one year service contract on your machine normally runs between $108.00 to $128.00 dollars.
But that's based on a machine that is in good working order.
I guess you'll have to pick your poison but keep in mind that a dryer has no transmission, clutch or tub seals. It's a simplex machine that can be repaired forever with little chance of (as so many people like to say) IT DIED.
