Question about Kitchen Appliances - Others

Open Question

Our Dometic RV microwave, model 56-2281-10/02 is acting erratically. Turn on the power (switches between water heater and microwave) and the display shows 05 seconds. Pressing "clear" or any other button usually produces no response, but pressing "5" usually adds seconds/minutes - 55, 5:55 or 55:55. Then pressing "start" sometimes does nothing, sometimes starts the microwave. Sometimes you have to press the button hard, sometimes barely hover over it and it adds seconds or starts. Sometimes I can't get it to do anything but display 05. Once it starts, it heats just fine. I'm wondering if there's a circuit board going bad? Any other ideas?

SOURCE: Samsung MW1080STA Microwave Oven

This is due to a defective or loose magnetron causing electrical interference and disruption in the control circuit board.

If your magnetron was recently replaced, it may have loose mounting nuts or bolts or maybe the wire mesh RF gasket was not installed or got pinched.

It may also need a new high-voltage diode and stirrer, and the cavity may be affected.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

You can order Samsung parts here.

You can find your nearest Samsung-authorized service center here.

Should be attached to manifold /lines from propane tanks. When propane tanks are on, it should be getting propane unless someone added a shut-off in line to it.

Dometic door on convection microwave wont stay closed

Damaged or bent latch/s---unit would have to be taken apart to see if fixable or needs parts replaced.

I would Google the full model number with "parts" to see what is available for this unit.

I have Dometic Roof Top Heatpump Model B3200 It will not turn on when it is a cold morning. The only way to get it started is to heat up the air in the caravan using a fan heater. This somewhat stupid...

To getproper heat, keep your temp setting at 30+ degree and also mode in "heat"position. If still no heat, check your heating sensor for closed circuit by anOHMs metre. It it's with RV, check power to RV

AC runs for 5 minutes and then circuit breaker

What else do you have running on hydro while AC is running? Such as coffee maker, microwave, water heater, fridge. That 30 amp breaker is your main breaker I assume, or breaker on pole your plugged in to. Keep in mind your AC will normally draw approx. 15-17+ amps momentarily when compressor kicks in to cool, then drop back to 12-15 amps when running normal. If your AC is drawing too much current, then you would only normally trip 20 amp breaker for AC in your panel. Try switching other appliances to gas operation while running AC, such as water heater, and fridge. Make sure incoming voltage is up to specs as well . (115-120 volts)
If water heater takes 5-8 amps, and fridge takes same when they are calling for power, you'll be close or over the 20amp mark when you consider your on board converter etc. as well. That only leaves approx 10 amps for AC that requires approx 15 amps to run, and up to 20amps when compressor kicks in. If you switch all those other items over to propane, and it still happens, then a current draw test should be done on AC unit to see if perhaps a capacitor is faulty, or possible compressor faulty.

What could cause my RV air conditioner to "pop" the breaker

Even though you don't specify which breaker is popping, I suspect your main breaker is going as you have 3 appliances that can draw a lot of current if they are calling for power all at once. Try running fridge and/or water heater on propane when using AC, to reduce the load. Many parks and trailers are limited to 30 amp service. Those 3 items drawing power at the same time will usually draw more than that. Add use of a microwave, and your really over.

Locating owners manual for 5th wheel & factory appliances

You'll probably find that the actual owners manual for the trailer is just a generic one, that covers many trailers in the fleetwood line-up. I'm guessing your worried about the AC, microwave, water heater & fridge. Get make & model numbers off them & I'll see what I can come up with. As far as items in the trailer other than that or questions, feel free to get back to me with any, and I should be able to explain most if not all. I'll also keep my eyes open at work (RV dealership) for a manual of your year.
