My Xerox B/W Copier XC 1044

All I get is a flashing "H4" code. Xerox support said "Reseat the Fuser". I did and still get the same H4 code. The Fuser Bulb appears intact and shows OK on a multimeter continuity check, and the copper contacts are proper and centrally connected. What should I look for next?

    No p-aper jam/toner looks fine

  • dansalvo Jun 09, 2008

Power cycling already tried many times. Still "H4" display. Fuser was "reseated"-no help. Are you suggesting I purchase a new replacement Fuser ? I already thought of that but would expect some degree of certainty before replacing expensive parts. Is there a way to "default" or clear the "H4"?

Power cycle the unit and reset it to default, if you have the same error try replacing the fuser.

Resetting the settings or clearing all warnings should get rid of the error but if you had the fuser for quite a while then chances are you need to replace it, that is a consumable part of the printer actually.

press then release these buttons individually, in this order: "clear" "exposure mode" "clear" "exposure mode". after this set number of copies then press print button. if this fails the fuser unit is faulty..

I have a Xerox XD 100 work centre showing a H-4 code what is the problem?.

The H4 code on these machines is almost always a false code. Especially if you have had any power fluctuations or failures.
Here is the text from my tip to solving this problem here on Fixya:
To reset the H3 or H4 condition on just about any Xerox XC or XD series copier press the following key's in sequence and as quickly as possible (with 4 seconds for the first 4 keys)
Press "C" then the far left key (exposure mode) then the "C" key then the far left again.
So in other words C, far left, C, far left
If done correctly the display should go blank.
Now key in 14 as if you were going to make 14 copies.
Now press the print button.
The machine should reset and the code should be gone.
9 times out of 10 this is a false code that pops up due to power surges or noise.
If the code comes back this means you have a heater lamp or thermal fuse (more common) failure in the fusing area and will need service.
This procedure will work on all Xerox XD and XC models.

Xerox model # XC1040 flashes H4 when turned on will not make copies ? code

H4 is a fuser error code. it basically means that the fuser is heating up. from what i can see the fuser lamp alone will be about $60.00. that would be the best case scenario if the rest of the fuser parts are ok. the upper fuser roller is 135.00 and lower 144.00.

Xerox pro 215, error H4 please help

H4 is a fuser error....not getting up to temperature.

Press [C] (Clear), press [Image Quality], press [C] (Clear) again, press [Image Quality] again.

If this doesn't bring it back to operations then the fuser lamp needs to be replaced.

Xerox XC 1020 copier code H4

With "H4" flashing press:
1.Clear button
2.Auto button then again

3.Clear button
4.Auto button

It should be done quickly. If it's done quickly enough all lights on display should go off.

5.Enter number 14 (as if you are making 14 copies).
6. Press START/COPY button.

The machine goes back to normal. If not, thermistor on the fuser (heater) should be replaced.

Xerox Copier problem

Turn power on and within 4 sec.press the following sequence;clear, exposure, clear, exposure. The screen will go blank.Enter '1' and '4' then hit print.turn off. This will reset H4 if the fuser has no problems such as a bad fuser lamp or thermal fuse. And yes it,s worth fixing with the right guy working on it!

Xerox B/W Copier XC 1044

Here you go. If you have no underlying problems this should work. If it comes right back, you have a fuser problem.

  1. Turn the power off.
  2. Locate the Clear Button, which is grey in color, in the upper right corner above the green Start Button.
  3. Locate the Auto Button the lower left corner of the Control Panel.
  4. Turn the power back on.
  5. Press the buttons in the following sequence, releasing each button after each time you press it: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto]. Every light on the Control Panel should go out, and the error code should clear.
  6. If the error code has not cleared, wait a few seconds then repeat Steps 1 through 5.
  7. Program the copier as if you were going to make 14 copies.
  8. Press the green [Start] button to store the reset code. The copier will return to the ready position.
  9. Run a test copy.
