Question about Garden

1 Answer

I have an N62FN-2 that doesn't drive nails all the way in. It leaves 3/8" of each nail exposed @ 100 PSI. When I release the gun without a nail loaded, there is no indentation.

Why might my nail guns not work?

Have you lubricated either nail gun? If not, go to Home Depot and get a bottle of air tool oil. It's in tools by the compressors. Disconnect the air hose from the tool. Pour about a teaspoon of oil into the air inlet of the tool. Reconnect everything and try it 10-20 times with no nails in the tool. Then try it with nails. Good luck.

Why wont my hatachi nail gun shoot 1 3/16 nail all the time

Has the tool been lubricated properly to Hitachi's recommendation? Is the airline pressure running about 90-100 psi? If not try giving it more pressure. Sometimes the compressor may have too smaller receiver (Tank) for what you are trying to use it for, leaving the tool unable to return the piston/driver to top dead centre.

How do I release the trigger lock on a brand new porter cable nail gun

Are you depressing the nose of the nail gun against the material to be nailed first? Without doing this, the trigger will not "unlock". You can read a pretty in-depth review of this nail gun at OnlineToolReviews com Porter Cable FR350A Full Round Head Framing... which might also help.

Nail gun 58-8434-4 will not drive 3" nails all the

Hi foxden503,

Welcome to fixya!

As a general rule, framing nailers use anywhere from 45 to 120 psi to drive nails. But this also depends on the hardness of the wood.
The nail head should be flush with the surface. If it sticks above the wood, increase the pressure a little bit at a time until you achieve this goal.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

Handie Andie

Adjusting airpresure

There is nothing on a nailer to adjust the air pressure. You have to do it at the pressure regulator. It is feasable to mount a regulator at the gun but more likely it's on the compressor. Most nail guns are rated for 90 to 120 psi. Set your regulator to hold the hose pressure between 90 and 100 psi. Using higher pressure to set the nail will ruin your nailer. Use the depth adjustment on the gun to set how far the nail is driven.

GUN NOT SETTING NAILS

Hello jsc.... the depth that the nailer drives the nail is dependent upon two factors, the hardness of the material you are driving the nail into and the air pressure. Generally when you want the nail to go in more you adjust the air pressure to a higher setting, going 5 psi at a time until you are close to perfect and then fine tuning the air pressure.

Sometimes people find that the air compressor itself is inadequate for the job. in that case, the only choice is to move up to a higher psi compressor. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Porter Cable BN125A won't set nails below surface

Not sure about the seal, but I do know the pressure has to stay up for this nailer to be effective. Try oiling the gun to free up the mechanics and don't use old nails.
