My computer is set to the lowest color quality of 4, and i can't change it. The screen resolution is horrible, it's 640 by 480 pixels. I don't know how to fix it.

I changed my resolution on my computer and now it reads not supported format and i cant change it back. how do fix this

restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
click start control panel, display, desktop you can select a different desktop from the drop down list
or a browse button where you can select different pictures this may vary depending on your operating system
also settings you can change the settings for more or less pixels or from the drop down list pick the appropriate level of color range or troubleshoot also select advanced then general dpi normal size, larger size or custom settings
always click APPLY after making any changes

if you need more help with this post a reply
hope this helps you

Presario r3000 too slow

I have a R3000 and after many years of usage many things happen and add to your hard drive. It can be a number of things from not enough hard drive space for your cache file to bad installed drivers.
I would suggest a full format and install using the backup disk that Compaq sent with the system. You should have the WinXP code on the bottom of the computer. This way you get a 100% clean system. You will have to reinstall any additional software such as MS Office or your virus scanner.
Hope this helps

Hmmm, Typically safe mode overcomes most errors, You can make changes in MS-Dos, but if all else fails and you fear data loss, daisy chain the hard disk to another computer with matching OS and move the important files then wipe and re-format

HP laptop display

Hi tredler,

Are you running a Windows OS?

If so, it is possible when your boyfriend used your laptop with a TV he may have changed the resolution settings. This may cause a compatibility issue when loading certain programs or games.

I suggest navigating to your Display properties through the Control Panel. Click on the advanced tab and change the resolution. This may be labeled as "Desktop Size." Try increasing the resolution (or adding "more" Desktop Size).

Thank you,
Jason,

Install xp on acer extensa 4220 hard disk not detected

Acer Extensa supports two model of HDD installation 1) AHCI and 2) SATA.

Windows Vista get installs on both but for Windows XP you need to Enable SATA option.

For that go into Bios, Change option of Hard Disk from AHCI to SATA. After that you can install both XP as well as Vista.

Try it, and mail me update: ansari.yasser@gmail.com

i am using Windows XP on Acer Extensa-4220

C840 resolution difficulties...

The type of screen you have is a UXGA screen. the optimal resolution for that is 1600 x 1200. changing the resolution for that will distort the screen causing black borders. If a computer has a 15.0+" SXGA+ screen with an optimized resolution of 1400x1050 and the screen's current resolution is set to 1280x1024 pixels, the display will shrink resulting in a black border surrounding the edges of the screen. Also, all other lower resolutions may be stretched to fit the screen. No border will be visible, but fonts may appear slightly fuzzy.
