Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

2 Answers

I was printing a manual using used paper. I think there was a staple in one of the pages creating a jam. I removed the paper, but when I close the top i hear a click like the machine is trying to reset but can't - something is still stuck and I can't see any remaining paper.

Un that case your only remaining option is to dismantle the printer to access directly the rollers and remove whatever is stuck in there. All you will need are a Philips screwdriver and a knife, to pry apart the clips on the periphery.

Hello,
Start by removing all the paper from the printer, open the back door if the printer has one that opens. Also the machine clicking might be the cartridge carrier being stuck, try turning the printer off for a moment and then turn it back on again, open the front cover and see if the clicking is caused by the carrier trying to move. If the clicking continues but is not the carrier, you could carefully try rotating the gears or rollers that take in or push out the paper. In any case do these things:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  • Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  • Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  • If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  • If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  • If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  • Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  • If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.

Dell 966 aio printer....paper jam and I cannot release paper from roller. Is there a way to release roller?

Have you read the Manual on paper removal? It mentions a rear panel that can be removed. That might free up the rollers:
If the paper jam is near the paper input tray:
    1. Remove the paper tray.
    2. Pull firmly on the paper to remove it.
    3. Replace the paper tray.
    4. Press the Select button .
    5. Resend your print job to print any missing pages.
If the paper jam is not visible:
    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Lift the printer unit.
    3. Firmly grasp the paper, and gently pull it from the printer.
    4. Close the printer unit.
    5. Turn on the printer, and print the document again.
If the jam is located in the duplex unit or near the rear access door:
    1. If you have a duplex unit, remove it.
    2. Open the rear access door.
    3. Firmly grasp the paper, and gently pull it from the printer.
    4. Close the rear access door.
    5. Re-install the duplex unit.
    6. Press the Select button to continue printing.
If the paper jam occurs near the ADF:
    1. Lift the ADF cover located to the left of the ADF input tray.
    2. Firmly grasp the paper, and then gently pull it from the printer.
    3. Close the ADF cover.
    4. Press the Select button .
    5. Resend your print job to print any missing pages.

There is a paper jam...how do I unjam it

    Hi dorothyhover,

Here's how you would clear paper jam from your Brother HL 1430:

    1. Remove the paper cassette completely from the printer.

    2.
Pull any jammed paper up and out of the printer.

    3.
Open the front cover and remove the drum unit assembly.

    4. Pull any jammed paper up and out of the printer.

Do not remove the drum unit assembly with additional force at this time if you cannot remove it easily. Instead, pull the edge of the jammed paper from the paper cassette.

    5. Open the rear cover and pull the paper towards the back of the printer, the fuser may get dirty with toner powder and may result in toner scatter on the next printed page or pages. Print a few copies of the test page until the toner scatter on the printed pages clears.

    6. Close the rear cover and install drum unit assembly, close the front cover.

    Hope it helps.

The paper light is flashing. The tray has paper, there is no paper jam. I check everything, put tray back in, press go and after a few seconds, there is a click noise and it starts flashing. What do I do?

The light flashing may mean more things, not just a paper jam. Could mean any of the following:
    - Front cover is open: Close the front cover of the printer.
    - Back cover is open: Close the back cover of the printer.
    - Paper jam: Clear the paper jam. To see paper jams and how to clear them, click here. If the printer does not start printing, press the Go button.
    - No paper fed manual feed slot: Put the paper back in the manual feed slot.
    - Memory full: The printer memory is full and the printer cannot print full pages of a document. To solve this problem, click here.
    - Print overrun: A print overrun occurred and the printer cannot print full pages of a document. To solve this problem, go here.
    - Drum Error: The corona wire needs to be cleaned. To see how to clean the corona wire, click here.

Work Center Pro 575 always gets paper jams

If a document jam occurs during a transmission, the message "DOCUMENT JAM" is displayed. If this occurs, follow the procedure below. It is recommended that a duplicate from a copier, of the jammed document be used to reduce the chance of a jam when resending the document.
See Chapter 3, "Loading Documents" for document specifications and recommendations which may help avoid paper jams.
Note: The power can be left ON when clearing a paper jam.
    Typical Causes of Document Jams
    Recommended Procedure
The document is fed at an angle.
Adjust the Document Guides to the edges of the
    document.
The document paper is too thin or too thick.
Make a duplicate using a copier and use the copy
    as the sending document.
Document has tape or pieces of paper taped to it.
Remove the tape or make a duplicate using a copier and use the copy as the sending document.
The Control Panel Cover is not fully closed.
Close the Control Panel Cover fully.
The document is stapled. Remove the staple(s), or make a duplicate using a copier and use the copy as the sending document.
    Basic Troubleshooting
    1. Remove all documents from the Document Support.
    2. Open the Control Panel Cover.
    3. Remove the document jam. Remove any pieces of paper, paper clips, or staples that may have caused the jam.
    4. Close the Control Panel Cover.
    5. Verify the display has returned to the Standby Mode.

Paper Jam message on every print job.

I have the same printer without the doc feeder. Check the paper trail thru the printer for the paper sensor lever hanging up. It gets pushed up by the paper and can stick, making the printer think it still has paper in it. Pulling the cart unsticks it till you print again.

Kodak esp 7 has a paper jam I cannot remove the paper

If you have tried the Kodak standard instructions for clearing the paper jam problem and it did not help try the procedure below.
    1. Open the printing area of the printer (containing the ink cartridges).
    2. The Ink cartridge holder should be to right side of track.
    3. Look on left side, below the track for the cartridge that is used to
clean the print heads. It can be identified by a square black pad
approx. 1" sqaure that appears to be made of "felt".
If it is visible this is most likely your problem.
    4. To correct problem locate the flat latching lever approx. 3/4" wide that
sticks up about 1/2" above the cartridge. It is locacted just behind
the "felt" square. Gently push lever toward rear which should free the
cleaning cartridge and allow the entir cartridge to move slightly
    backward.
    5. Close the top of the printer and cycle the printer off and back on.
If this is the problem, the "paper jam" error will now be gone.
This is such a simple fix I do not know why kodak does not inform
customers of this problem and how to fix it.
