Clean the printer nozzle and then align the cartridges and see if this solves your problem? If it doesnt, clean the nozzle again until the print quality is acceptable.

How do you do this?

Push the menu key on your printer and use the up and down arrows on your printers keypad to scroll the options. Find the "maintenance" area and push "enter" or "ok" on your printers keypad. Continue to scroll with the up and down arrows until you find the "clean print nozzle" choice and push "ok" or "enter" on your printers keypad. Then follow the instructions. The printer will print a test page when it completes a cleaning and will ask if its "ok" or if it should repeat the cleaning. Continue if necessary. If this does not solve your printing problem after two or more cleanings then re post your findings to clarify the issue and I will try and help you.

Kodak esp 5210 wont print black

I figured it out. If you are low on (25%) on either colors or black, then it won't print. Even if you load a new black cartridge and it reads as 100% black, it won't print because it will only print when BOTH cartridges have been replaced and reads 100%.
Same thing happens reversed with color being replaced.
So basically, ALL printers short you 25% ink and FORCE you to buy their ink more often. Kodak is no exception.
I have 100% black and 25% color and a BW only needed text paper won't print. I been through this before. *facepalm*

I have a Kodak ESP 3250. I always print Black Only, but after a few months I get a 3508 error code telling me to replace my color cartridge. I cannot use the printer, period!!! Since I only print...

If this printer is like some of the HP printers I have serviced in the past, many printers like this use a tiny bit of color as a "primer" to make the black "blacker" and to prevent bleeding in systems where the color is dye and the black is pigment.
A number of printers may allow a "use black only" in the driver settings, but many other printers will simply refuse to print if the color runs out, even if you are printing black and white.
The short answer is, chances are, you need to replace the color cartridge.

I have an all-in-one Kodak ESP 3250 printer. Bought it 4 months ago. I'm interested in printing only in black, but now the color cartridge has emptied and it won't let me print with the black cartridge...

The KODAK All-in-One Printer uses an advanced built-in printhead. The system is designed to provide excellent image and text quality, while eliminating the need to purchase new printheads every time you replace ink cartridges, and saving you money. The printing system requires that both the black and color ink cartridges be installed to print. If either cartridge is not installed or is out of ink, the printer or printhead will not print correctly.

Install the color a new cartridge, avoid damage to the print head.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

My printer only prints color..have installed new black cartridge but still only prints color so installed another new black cartridge and still only prints color

Unlike most printers where the print cartridge and printheads are attached and sold together, the ESP 3 has a separate printhead from the cartridges.

Remoe both cartridges. Then look at the place where the cartridges sit. There is a latch you push down in the back. This will release the printhead to allow it to be removed.

Remove the print head

Take a cotton swap and a little alcohol and clean the printhead of all ink. Repeat this until it is totally clean.

Make sure the printhead is dry and clean of all ink and alcohol.

Replace the printhead.

Place cartridges in and test.

If this does not work, then you need a new printhead for this printer.

here is an example of how to remove and replace printheads for thsi unit.
http://faqs.kodak.com/atg/faq/attachments/AUR1780-2.pdf

to gt a new printhead you must contact kodak
http://www.kodak.com/go/contact

probably as expensive or almost as expensive as a new printer.

The seperate printhead from the carts are why kodak can have their ink so cheap. Those other brands cost that extra 15-20$ for the attached new head with each cart.

Kodak esp 3250 won't print black. Changed cartridge and still won't print black. Just installed new printer.

I fixed my ESP 3250 print problems by removing the cartridges and print head. Using a Q-tip and warm water, added drops of water to each of the print head ink wells until the water / ink from the wells bled thru onto a cleanex. Did this several times. Dryed the print head fairly well. Then added a drop of water to each cartridge for each color. Reasembled and ran an alignment and to my surprise, it works! I hadn't used my printer in a while, so the ink had dryed on the felt for both the print head and cartridges.......

Just installed my new esp-3 printer will not print or copy any colour just washed out black/white

Check if you have removed cartridge protection tab from color cartridge. see MANUAL for assistance. If removed try to find you printer must have COLOR to B/W switch. Check if color light is on. If it printed test page and it wasn't color you may not installed cartridge correctly.
