There is an electrical problem with either the power cord connected to the monitor or the outlet that it is plugged into.

If its a brand new monitor, return it to the place of purchase and exchange it.

If its a used monitor then I would suspect that someone has given you the wrong power cord for the unit. Sometimes people check to see which cord "fits" the unit and think that its appropriate because they can connect it.

That is not correct when it comes to monitors. Just because a power cord fits by connecting to the monitor does not always mean its appropriate to run it correctly.

Check the voltage requirements on back of the monitor and compare them to the power cord your using with it. If they are appropriate and your still experiencing this problem then the power cord might be bad.

Test this possibility by disconnecting the monitor from the computer and turn it on. Do you see a screen that says "no video" or "no connection"? Does the screen blink the same way as when connected to the pc? If it does, then its the power cord or supply source its connected to. Plug it into another socket and and see if you get the same thing and that tells you its the cord.

If the display is good when not connected to your pc, then use a process of elimination to figure out if its the monitor cords connector that is broken or frayed or if its the video card connection that is either loose and needs to be re seated in your case or the connection itself is unsturdy and needs the bolts tightened to give a solid connection.

How do you do that?

Check the pins on the end of the cable that connects the monitor to your pc. Are any broken, missing or bent?. Check the other end that connects to the monitor and verify the same thing.

Then try and jiggle the video card by grabbing the area that you connect the monitor cable to on the back of your pc's case and see if it is loose. If it is, get a screwdriver and tighten the screws until its tight.

Try plugging it in again and see if this solves your problems. If it doesn't then clarify your findings and I will help you solve this issue another way.

How do I change the size of the image of a Princeton Digital VL 1918?

You can't change the image size as such actually on the monitor but you can change the size of the image feeding the monitor.
In windows right click the desktop, click properties in drop down menu then click settings. The setting should correspond with the native setting of the monitor which is 1280x1024 pixels and that is what you should set it to.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

I've opened my princeton vl 1919 monitor to see if the caps are blown. I can't loosen the grey metal cover covering the boards to see the caps. I've removed the hexes on either side of the video inputs but...

Not sure if the VL1918 uses the same chassis as your, just remove the 4 screws and disconnect all the lamps connectors and other connectors.

Hello I can't get anything on my screen except

Your PC is putting too high resolution for he VL1918 to display.
You need to set your PC video out put to the native resolution of the VL1918, which is 1280x1024 @60Hz.
You will have to hook up your old monitor (crt type?) and set the new resolution.
Or boot up in safe mode (hit f8 during boot up), and set the resolution to 640 x 480, reboot into regular mode, then rest the resolution to 1280x1024 260Hz.
Also watch out for bad caps in this monitor: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Princeton%20VL1918W/

Will Princeton monitor VL1918 support NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE

Hi Alvie
I Just checked the specs on both the card and the monitor. It should work no problem. If for some reason you notice some lag or flicker in the monitor, go to this page and download the updated ForceWare graphics drivers.
