Try re-installing the drivers but use the drivers from here

http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

the sound chipset on your computer is based on the AC 97 audio chip, and Realtek are the best drivers, just select the correct one for your opperating system

I have an HP Pavillion m9600t with Windows 7. Sometimes when i try to play games the sound crackles and progressively gets worse until the computer freezes. Any thoughts?

This seems to be a problem more with Realtec onboard sound than with a stand alone soundcard. You can try either updating the Realtec driver or using the generic windows driver and forget using the realtec functions. But with my computer the only true fix was to disable onboard sound and install a soundcard. Hope this helps.

Sound Device not found! I just installed a new Xp Fresh Copy, but it seems like my Sound Doesnt work, I think its RTM866-845 .. Any help?

you will have to download the drivers for your soundcard.

And you can go to control panel, then device manager. Make sure the soundcard is enabled and drivers are up to date.

I have a Encore 5.1 Sound card and have installed it. My problem is that I don't get a normal sound input when I bring in the output of my cassette player into any of three ports I have in my pc, front,...

When you install the sound card drivers, they disable ALL motherboard sound functions, and enable them on the sound card, meaning you can do the same things, with better quality, you just need to connect everything to the soundcard or it won't work. SO then you cannot connect any sound to the front of the computer anymore, but a soundcard should have plenty of connections on the back side of the PC.

From what I understood from your story, you switched cassette players AND installed a sound card. If I were you I'd first install the sound card drivers, then try to play audio with the old cassette player, and see wether that works. If it does, your new cassette player has another (if at all) output than the old one. Then you'll just have to use the old one. If it does not work, your soundcard is the problem, which seems a bit odd. Soundcards are usually meant to do more than on-board sound, not less. I'd contact your manufacturer and ask wether it's normal this doesn't work, or that the card's broken.

I hope this helps,
Yannick.

My laptop has no sound, it says no audio output is installed

Have you had your Soundcard working previously?
Did you recently install/reinstall your Operating system?

It sounds like a missing driver or a faulty soundcard.

To further assist you I need to know What Manufacturer and model your Laptop is and If you know it the manufacturer of your onboard sound chip.

Thanks
Dave
