Question about ViewSonic VA721 17" LCD Monitor

When I turn my screen on it keeps going black after a few seconds. This just started happening out of the blue. Any idea what might be causing this and how I would fix it?

Please try the LCD to other PC's, with this you can verify that the LCD is the one who is faulty.
if it works on other system without any problems, it might be your system or CPU is the one having problem
possible problem may reside in:
memory vga card(video card) processor(overheating) faulty motherboard OS(operating system)
the above list can be checked one by one, by a simple elimination process, meaning try other parts, and see what happens, for example, memory, you can borrow memory modules from others or if you have spare try it on the computer and see the results. run through the list until you eliminate or have found the real culprit
for the other items on the list: vga card - try another card, replace card processor - check system or cpu temperature(refer to your manual on how to)-check fans if operating-check for heat paste hardening(the grey material, like paste, see if it dried up,if yes put on new heat paste)
motherboard - you can check busted capacitor, burnt items or pieces, check for heating.overheating pieces or parts
OS - reinstalling the OS,

Screen "blinks" black every few minutes - Dish Network

Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. When the picture alternately goes from normal to a black screen, it is an indication of an intermitten signal issue. You can attempt to reset the receiver box by unplugging it from the power for 10 seconds and letting it reboot. Hopefully this will resolve your issue.

The play station turns on but the menu is not coming up. The wave line is on the screen of the TV

Same problem just happened to me. Playing a game and the game froze. Sat there in shock for about 10 to 15 seconds and the screen went black. Shut it off. Now every time I go to turn it back on again it starts up, I get the PS3 logo and then the blue wave starts. About 5 seconds after that the wave starts to lag and then nothing.... Stays on the lagging blue wave screen... THIS BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!

Dell D600 Battery Causes Screen to go Black

Laptop batteries normally just last for a few years, depending on usage. If your battery is almost done, it may report a 'full' status, but just have the capacity to feed your laptop for a few minutes.

You may check this by disconnecting current while your laptop is started up. If low battery capacity is the cause, the same will happen within a few minutes.

Laptops normally go in standby on low battery, to avoid data loss.

You can try a hard reset. Hold in the reset button (left side of unit, use a pin or toothpick), while turning on the unit. If you don't get the blue Magellan screen, you'll have to try again. If you get a screen with a blue background and a menu, turn it off and try again.
So far, this has fixed:
1. unit won't go on
2. unit reboots when routing
3. unit turns off after a few seconds

At least, it's fixed it for me. No idea why this happens, but it's pretty damn annoying. Give it a try.

KEEP FADING TO BRIGHT BLUE SCREEN

I'm about 90% sure it is the blue picture tube developing an intermittent heater to cathode short. I'm surprised the set isn't shutting down shortly after this happens. A service call will tell you for sure as it could also be a bad solder connection causing a similar symptom. My own procedure to check it out would be to GENTLY tap the neck of the suspected picture tube with a screwdriver handle to see if I could get it to come and go (Or get out my CRT tester and measure it with the power off). Obviously by holding the screwdriver blade you don't want to accidently short anything out as there is about 33,000 volts a few inches away from where I would be tapping. Nuff Said.
