I tried to use the S-video connection to have TV as monitor. The screen display did not show on TV. Dell Latitude has S-video so I used a connector and a cord to Panasonic TV with choice of HP-J or Video. I used the video (where DVD player is usually hooked) and set TV to Video-3 whic I usually use for DVD, rebooted PC, but did not get picture on TV

Re: S-Video no picture on TV
Please right-click on my computer and click on the properties, there click on hardware to see hardware that are not properlly installed or driven. if all hardware are driven than get back for further directives. but it might that the s-video is not driven that is why it is not functioning or responding. good luck

How you connect to your tv is not so much a matter of OS as it is dependent on what type of video connections are available on your laptop whether RGB, S-Video, mini-display port to DVI, or HDMI.
Once the tv is connected then you will need to right click your desktop and choose whether you want the tv to be a clone display (desktop to show on both your laptop screen and the tv, or use the extended desktop setting to have half the screen be on the laptop and the other half to be on flat screen tv.
Run the S-Video cable from the laptop to the tv. Take the tv's remote
control and hit the Select Input button. Select S-Video or PC as your
input source. Reboot the laptop and the video might show automatically.
The video will show on most systems when you
reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit
the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the
correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key
will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.
If you don't get a display on the external monitor, then most likely your video circuit is the problem. If your laptop has a plug-in video card it can be replaced. However if it's integrated into the motherboard then you'll have to have that replaced.
Either the video cable has been damaged or unplugged or the video processor is malfunctioning. Check this by connecting an external monitor. If the video is all there then press the Fn(function) and F4 key. This should switch the video from the external monitor to the internal screen. If this doesn't happen or if the external monitor shows no video then the laptop needs to see a reputable repair perso or check my website www.micromendllc.com
Hi there if you have plugged into your external vga port all you have to do is press fn + f8 that should now show the image on both laptop and external ie projector
Regards Al "alstech"
Switches the video image to the next display in the following sequence: the integrated display only, the integrated display and an external CRT monitor simultaneously, an external CRT monitor only, the integrated display and an external DVI monitor simultaneously, and an external DVI monitor only.
<Fn> + up-arrow key
Increases brightness on the integrated display only (not on an external monitor)
<Fn> + down-arrow key
Decreases brightness on the integrated display only (not on an external monitor)
not quiet sure if the svid takes it picture on the same as the display but you can try this along the f1 row of buttons you should see a button which shold have a picture of two monitors
press the fn key down and then press monitor key
this works if you want to put your display onto a bigger screen
hope this helps
