I've just done this for my brother strangely, and all you need to do is; 1. Ensure wireless is enabled on the router, and that WPA-PSK security is enabled. 2. Go into the PS3's config, and setup the wireless connection (if you are unsure on how to do this, consult the documentation for your PS3)

Can't get online to play this new PS3. The console is hooked up to the TV & Belkin Wireless router. The internet, computer and phone line are in a different room and can't reach to hookup. AT&T is...

There should be no HDMI cable to router. In any situation.

Try the following:

Turn off PS3 system..
1: Reset your modem by unplugging it from the main power source.
2: After a few minutes, plug modem power back into modem. Allow all connections to configure
3: Turn on PS3 system.
4: Go to "Settings" then scroll all the way down to "Network Settings"
5: Make sure that the "internet connection" (the second menu) is "Enabled"
6: Go to "Internet Connection Settings" and choose the appropriate settings. (What's highlighted is going to be the best option, continue to hit the right button on the analog to go through the stages.)

Be sure to choose "Wireless" when configuring the settings if you are using wi fi for connectivity.

A need help

you can set your playstation 3 online by two ways, 1- by a wired connection, and 2- Wireless,

1-Wired Connection: Plug an ethernet cable from your highspeed modem to the back ethernet input on your ps3 system, and follow on your ps3: Network Connection > Internet Connection Settings > Easy > Wired Connection. and follow steps
2- Wireless Connection: You must have a Router connecting ethernet cable from your intenet modem to the router, and follow on your ps3: Network Connection > Internet Connection Settings > Easy > Wireless Connection and follow steps,

hope this helped you on setting up your ps3 connection :)

I have a Belkin Wireless router and I have a PS3

Actually you don't need to forward ports when playing online games. The router should automatically locate the ports for the game because it has UPnP function. Here's what you can do. Disable the port forwarding and DMZ that you set on the router. Look for the UPnP function of the router and disable, Save it. Enable it again, then save. Now power cycle your router. If you have Static IP on the PS3 network settings, try to set it first to automatic IP and automatic DNS.

Hope that helps.

I cant play online without the modem being by my ps3?

Yes, using a longer ethernet cord will work, but the PS3 has a bult-in WiFi card that can connect to any wireless router (you can buy a wireless router from a computer store like BestBuy).

If you are going to buy a wireless router, see if a wireless G-mimo or wireless N with signal boost is within your budget. Try looking through the network settings to see if you can connect through the wireless router.

Or just get a longer ethernet cord and run it directly to the PS3 from the router. Ethernet cords are the most reliable connection, granted you are on a good internet connection, they won't get interference from things like mobile phones, cordless phones, microwaves, TV's etc.

I have both the PS3 and Xbox 360 and the only thing I like better about the PS3 is the free online game play and Blue-Ray. Other than that, they're even. Good luck and have fun online! If you find me (wraith0127) say hi! Don't forget to rate. Thank you!

I cant get my ps3 to hook up to my internet

Use the PS3's Internet connection test under Systems Settings to determine if you've access to the web. If this test fails you will need to do the following:
1) Reset your DSL modem.
2) Once the cycle is completed, run the Internet Setup under Systems Settings within your PS3.
3) Follow the instructions you should be able to gain access to the web and online game play.

Ps3 internet connection

you can hook up the ps3 directly to a router or a modem but there is no need to have it hooked up to an actual computer or laptop. you have to have an internet connection with a router/modem to at least HAVE the ABILITY to get online play.

Ps3 online

ps3 has a built in wireless adapter.rather than having wires all over, get a wireless router.connect the router to your modem with an ethernet.once you have the wireless router up and running, you will have whats called an "access point" for any devices to connect to wirelessly (within a reasonable distance),such as the ps3.
