Question about Kenmore 62463 Microwave Oven
My kenmore 62463 was killed by the babysitter. She smoked a bag of popcorn to black dust. I've checked out all the steps that the tech sheet included. Kenmore was very kind to include that under the chassis cover. After checking static conditions, I ran the oven with a cup of water. Didn't heat the water at all but the heatsink on the magnatron got hot. Does this indicate I have High Voltage just Magnatron bad?
Important: Does it sound any louder or quieter when cooking than it used to?
If the magnetron's getting hot, you're getting high voltage.
Chances are it overheated and the magnet cracked.
If the internal cooling fan (usually separate from the vent fan) fails, that will allow it to overheat, too.
If it's within the magnetron warranty period, Sears will cover the part, but not the labor to visit you or do the work.
