Question about Heating & Cooling

4 Answers

I had a water leak. The fresh water runs right behind the compressor so it got hit. I was getting low AC voltage errors. Replaced the board and now get HP during air and CLF during heat. System was flushed and new circulation pump installed. Still happening. This is an ECU MAXX on a Rinker boat.

what causes the high pressure? There is definitely water flowing thru the system. Can it be the switch?

  • tracy_steffe Sep 29, 2010

I ealize this is a high presssure problem. What relieves the pressure during operation?

  • tracy_steffe Sep 29, 2010

Since the compressor did get wet, do you think it could be the switch? I understand it is not difficult to replace.

So you say you have the same problem, meaning it is still leaking water? Can you explain a little better where the leak is originating?

Thanks
Tim

Found this interesting segment off the site that will follow:
F-6: Compressor Load Fault Message (CLF) Normally On Compressor load fault (CLF) occurs when the KLIXON or high head pressure switch opens causing an interruption of power to the compressor. Typical causes would be loss of cooling water or high Freon head pressure. The CLF can be turned off during trouble shooting sessions but should be turned on for normal operation.
http://www.marinespecialists.com/marineairsystems/manuals/ecumax/index.htm#Fail
They have a lot of good information on that page.
This page also has the following excerpt about how you can perform a short circuit test:
F-5: Short Circuit Test The short circuit test is normally Off, however, while the unit is being installed the short circuit test can be turned On. Once the system is installed and no short circuits are detected the Short Circuit Test should be turned Off. Turning off the test will speed the cold boot-up time from the AC power off condition.
Make sure the compressor didn't get any water damage- since it got hit, many things could happen- water is corrosive and also can short out or burn up wires, so inspect the compressor. If the relay got wet, clean it's terminals well- they could be corroded. I doubt that the start capacitor would have gone bad, but I've seen stranger things, so try that, if everything else is good.
"In cases of mystery, suspect the obvious, and inspect all else".
Good luck!

Low voltage at compressor!

My parts lookup too has no images available for you refrig but i believe it to be a GE Profile with a fresh food fan (and air duct down the center of the fresh food side). All fan motors are 12vdc and run off the Lowvoltage side of motherboard. i assume you are checking voltage to comp from motherboard? How did you check relay?? Have you axcessed motherboard?? On the top of (I say top-- i belive its mounted horiz on yours but all the small wires are on the right) is all the low voltage fan motor, damper, control wiring On the bottom (or the left) side of the motherboard is the larger line voltage wiring. The connector with 3 wires is labeled def -- comp---line it should be blue. Try jumping L1 to comp. ((Just so ya know Def will energize the def heater regardless of compartment temp it does have a bimetal but it only a safety set at 100deg in case relay on board welds shut---it monitor evap compartment, frz, fresh food, (two seperate in FF) in your model))

My goodman dsz160361ae outdoor unit will not start. it tries for 4 seconds then shuts off. I changed the comp. and the circuit board and the start and run caps. could I have the wrong circuit board? I

Most generally the original circuit board has a model number on it that should be the same as a replacement board. If it does not match, then you may have the wrong replacement. Why did the board burn up? It may have caused a short that you have not diagnosed, thus possibly shorting out the new board. The fan stays running because the call for cooling is not satisfied.

Why is my car giving an incorrect error?

Check or replace the pressure switch on the ac dryer. It is shutting off and not allowing the compressor to run. This based on the system having the right amount of R134A.

A/C clutch won't engage

ur still way low in freon the compressor clutch is designed to disengage when low on pressure so as not to overheat and seize causing possible damage to engine two ways to engage clutch --one is to jump clutch and continue to fill or keep adding freon until clutch pulls in

Charged a/c system no leaks compressor would not kick on held 30 minute vaccuum checked for leaks replaced condensor due to hitting a coon could not find low pressure switch to jump to kick compressor on

turn ac on with engine running check for power at the compressor if there isnt check for power at the low pressure switch if there is jump out the connection
the compressor should turn on the low pressure switch is usually located on the accumulator canister (SILVERY CANISTER) near the firewall.

Panel is hot and freezer does not work!

Check the condenser fan underneath the unit accessable form the back behind the cardboard cover. It should be running when the compressor runs. OR Check the evaporator behind the rear cover inside the freezer. Check for ice build up. . Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control

Sounds like the some issue I have with my Mom's 96 Cav. No Cmprsr

I would check the freon level in the AC system. The computer looks at the voltage from the pressure switch in order to activate the compressor clutch. If the voltage is not in the right range the computer will not turn on the compressor and in turn will not turn on the cooling fan. It is set up this way in order to prevent damage to the AC compressor. I would almost bet that the system is low and may have a small leak. Your local mechanic can check it for you and correct the charge level as needed.

I have a goodman furnace and ac unit the fan and heat work but every time i turn the ac on it blows the low voltage fuse ive replaced all low voltage wires to outside unit and thermostat i also replaced...

Look at the contactor on the condensing unit, remove the low voltage wires to the contactor and turn on the system. If the low voltage fuse doesn't blow, replace the contactor.

During low voltage period window AC compressor shudders and kicks off, but fan runs, when voltage returns normal compressor runs.

low voltage issues causes higher amp draw and equipment to run a lot harder. whats causing the low voltage problem to the equipment? high amp draw of the compressor could be causing it to overheat and trip until the compressor physically cools down.
