Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My dryer displays F70 and shuts off early. I have tried to hold the door in so i don't think it is the latch. Sometimes it also displays odd symbols that blink on and off.

Hello- It is a communications error code, the control board is most likely faulty. You will, unfortunately, need to get a Tech out to take a look at it and possibly replace the control board. I would also call the manufacturer and see if they have any way of helping you with the cost of the board if it is out of warranty because the part is not a cheap one. Good luck, best regards.

My malber wd2000 door won't open

Malbers use a thermal (heat acting) latch to hold the door closed, so it stays latched for about 2 mins after being turned off. This is to give you time to think before you open the door and possibly spill water all over your feet. When the little bi-metallic piece cools off, it bends to one side (inside the latch assy) releasing the catch, and the door can be opened. Sometimes, the bi-metallic part bends OK, but the latch catches and won\'t release. It just needs a little vibration to free it up. A smack to the latch area (on door or face of Washer) will free the latch.

I tell my customers: Don\'t pull too hard on the white door handle. If you can\'t open it with your little finger (seriously) it\'s not ready to open!

Kenmore dryer doesnt have power there is continuity to the timer and the switch

Is there power at the receptacle? The easy way to check this is to go to your electrical panel, turn off the 30 amp (2 - pole) circuit breaker, wait a few seconds and then turn it back on. If you have any lights, digital displays, etc. that indicate power being on to the dryer - then try going through your routine again for drying your clothes. If this doesn't do it, feel free to contact me again - and I'll help you with the next step. Sometimes the door latch can affect power. Meaning, if the door isn't shut all the way - it won't turn on. Now, if it is shut all the way and you know you have power to the machine, and it still won't work. A faulty door latch switch has been known to be the cause. Good Luck to you, and I hope the simple solution works for you. - Jim

Whirlpool duet frontload dryer stops running after several minutes of drying. The door seems to pop out enough to cause it to shut off. There are no codes showing or anything. This is a brand new unit...

Try blocking something against the door to see if that really is the problem. Or wedge a piece of cardboard in the side of the door opening to hold it shut. If that "fixes" it, you probably have a worn latch from everyone opening it to look at it in the store. You should be able to get a new latch at

Everthing works fine except the door pops open and dryer shuts off early.its like the dryer is is saying its done when its not

It sounds like a weak or bad door latch. When objects inside the dryer strike the door it may be causing the door to pop open as you describe.

Check the latch pin (the part on the door) and see if it's bent or compressed. If so you may be able to open the prongs with a small screwdriver, but be careful. Also check the companion catch on the dryer and see if there is any damage and that both halves are still there.

Failing all of this, replace the latch assembly.

Door wont stay shut

The door latch could be closed, in other words, the door thinks it shut into the striker. Take and hold the door handle open, like your trying to open the door, hold the handle out or up and at the same time open the latch, it may be stuck or closed...If that's not it, you may have to re-align the latch to the striker, the striker will come loose with a torx bit. Loosen it up, and move it around and re tighten, it's a trial and error deal, just keep trying different positions until if works right...
