Question about Dell 962 Photo All-In-One InkJet Printer

My 964 printer has suddently stopped recognising the USB connection to the laptop - nothing has changed - so I tried uninstalling the software but cannot reinstall the drivers and utilities CD - so I now have nothing!! Help

The recognition is not from your printer, but from your laptop. I have had this happen before and it is VERY frustrating.
This calls for editing the registry, (or at least cleaning it out of dead links and orphan files.)
Sometimes the printer manufacturer has a program that will seek out the tendrils of software to allow you to re-install the drivers.
All you really need are the .dll drivers, the rest is fluff.
First go to the dell web page and look for a system cleaner.
Then try this..
go to www.winfiles.com (it will redirect you) and type in the search bar : "registry cleaner" (without the quotes)
nothing fancy. Run it and let it ferret out all of the broken links.
(Please do a system backup prior to this) Start/Accessories/system tools/Backup and restore

It is possible that there are errors in the driver software and so a reinstallation is needed. So remove printer and then open programs to uninstall the printer software. Now shut down and then restart download the drivers and install , connect the printer ONLY when prompted and then check .
This might clear the issue , if not there are problems in the mother board.

The problem is caused by you connecting the printer before the software asks you to.

Uninstall all HP software, restart the PC and start again. Do NOT connect the printer until the install prog tells you to.

First you check the USB port is working or not. If no plz update/install the USB driver. if working properly so plz check the connectors which are connected in the computer and another side in the printer. After that uninstall the drivers and install software agin in your computer. I hpoe your problem will solved

Laptop fails to recognise printer (HP J4680)


Have you tried temporarily disabling the mac address filtering?

If you have the option to print out a diagnostic sheet then this will clarify if that is the problem.

I have an orange livebox and I had to press button 1 on the livebox in order to temp disable MAF so that the router could pair properly with the HP printer.

My computer recognises the printer is there, but nothing prints


With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install :
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the sofware asks for the printer connect it and continue

Printing problems


plz check whether the driver is installed, go to printers on control panel and try for a test page print, if test is printed, then could be ur software is looking that printer.

PC won't detect MFC-210C Printer


TRY THIS, remove or uninstall the printer from your computer and turn it off.

Now, before you switch back ON the computer, remove the USB connection of your printer.

When the computer is done loading. Install the Printer using the CD that comes with the printer.

When the installer ask you to insert the USB connection of the printer,
that's the only time you should insert it to the USB port... switch ON the printer... Installation should proceed smoothly until completed.

That should solve your problem

Software driver problem


Do any other devices connect successfully to that same USB port?
If no, try another USB port.
If yes, when you reinstalled your software, did you uninstall first? If not, see if you can. Once uninstalled, verify that the device is removed via Device Manager.
Once removed, if on XP or Vista, try to connect using the built in system drivers.
If this does not work, try reinstalling your drivers, but be sure to check for system prompts when you connect. If you do not respond to those prompts, the device will not mount.
