Hello there:
F2
Note: Also see fan thermal switches Indicates that oven is over temperature in one of the following modes within either a cooking or clean mode of operation.
· Control senses oven temperature above 650 degrees F with the door circuit in the unlock mode.
· Control senses oven temperature above 935 degrees F with the door in the locked mode.
· Stalled cooling fan or airflow problem. · Look for welded relay contacts. (Heating elements on in off mode).
· Look for open thermal switch in lock motor circuit. Switch is normally closed and will open if area overheats due to fan not operating. Look for cause - fan thermal switch not closing, fan stalled, etc.
· Look for high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit due to high contact resistance (poor terminal crimp, deformed terminals, loose connection) or intermittent solder joint on control or intermittent oven temperature sensor.
· Look for electrical noise interference in the oven temperature sensor circuit (Ham radio, cordless phone, etc.).

ok, this started happening after I used the self cleaning button? could that have something to do with this, also, I may have tried to open door right after I started the self cleaning?? But it was after that when it started to just switch to the broil mode when I would be baking something. Should I do the self cleaning mode again and see if it will correct itself?

    ok thanks for the reply
This the bad things about these ovens once there in the self cleaning mode and you try to open the door things like this error code appear so here is what you need to do first is to unplug the oven for at least 1 hour this allows for the internal reset feature to reset the system then after one hour plug in the oven again and press the cancel button if yours has one if not wait for 5 min and it should be able to be operated normally after this you may hear a audiable click sound if so great you can open the door and continue on what you were doing but if not and you get the error code again than you do have a problem please keep me posted so i can continue to help on this oko
    Best regards MIke

Ge profile f2 error while broiling in upper oven

During

BAKE Control senses oven
temperature above 615F-630F If actual over temperature condition occurred: Look for
welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven
control (also called clock or ERC).

If no over temperature condition
occurred
: Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high
resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness
and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if
found defective.

of sensor circuit , not actual oven temperature. F2

Broiler element not working at all. checked element--it's OK. Called a serviceman-- he thought it was an oven sensor--replaced sensor ---no change Electronic clock some times shows a code "F2 ...

you do not say it is electric oven. if so broil element requires 240 vac. may be controlled by relay. Is bake element working? also controls for broil may be different setting if digital panel is in this design. I think same sensor may be used for bake or broil.

you do not say if gas oven, electric oven, single or double oven or if digital panel control, a little more information would help.

if you have digial voltmeter, FULLY disconnect electric power and measure element on terminals. probably less than 15-20 ohms for a good element.

The ovens were just installed. We can't make them work. We are getting a F2 on the screen.

The F2 means Oven temperature is too high 1. Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).
2. For SELF CLEAN models: check door lock operation.
3. Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit, not actual oven temperature.

HI. an F-2 during a baking cycle is the result of an out of control oven temp that has reached Temperatures above 615F-630F

If this actual over temperature condition occurred, Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).

If no over temperature condition occurred, Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

I need to disable my ovens auto shut off

The control is automatically set to turn off the oven after 12 hours baking or 3 hours broiling should you forget and leave the oven on. If you want to remvoe this feature do the following steps: 1. Press and hold, at the same time, the BAKE and BROIL buttons for 3 seconds, until the display shows "SF". 2. Press the DELAY START TIME button. The display shows "12Shdn" for 12 hour shut off. Press the DELAY START TIME button again. The display will show "no Shdn" for no shut off. 3. Press the START button.
